Project nothingspecial - Switch 810 build

Time for me to finally start a build log! Been meaning to for a while with the current rig (CM 690-II White, with essentially the same hardware that's going in the new build), but never got it to a point where it was what I wanted it to be. So I've given up and got an NZXT Switch 810! The 690-II will get a Z77 rig in it for downstairs eventually.

Spec:

- NZXT Switch 810 White

- Gigabyte X79-UD5

- Intel Core i7-3930k (original stepping)

- HIS Radeon 5770 (replacing this, probably with a 670. Used to have a 560Ti in there, but put it in another rig to fold on)

- Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1200W (overkill, but was cheap. Might replace later down the line with an AX850)

And I'm finally biting the bullet and doing a watercooling loop! Been pondering it for a while, but have now got exactly what I want in mind.

From here, we start the explanation. To start with, we have the case, as is, stripped down:

But wait, what's this? He's taken the bloody drive bays out!

And herein lies my plan - I'm going to put a dual rad in the front (haven't decided between 120mm or 140mm yet), but I'm putting it up into the drive bay space. Then I'm going to put in a midplate in the bottom to hide the power supply! I'll make a more detailed post about the loop when I get closer to putting it all together.

The case has a bit of flex to it without the drive bays in there, but I'm hoping that'll go once the plate is fitted.

I should probably mention now that one of my main inspirations for the plate and a few other bits in this build is Skorchio's TJ07 mod "Filtration" (http://forum.overclock3d.net/index.php?/topic/27590-filtration-finished-new-video/) - probably the best mod I've seen on these forums since I joined. I don't imagine mine will be anywhere near as good, but I'm still looking forward to it a lot! Colour scheme is going to be black, white and purple, maybe a bit of grey in there too.

Looking forward to seeing your project take shape I bought a white Switch 810 last night for my new build after watching Tom's review. Cheers Tom

Some very nice kit, this should be a good project. Will be awesome to see a bit of purple in the colour scheme too, haven't seen many builds with purple involved
