project cars

Yeah I am playing it on my laptop using a mouse for steering. Still enjoying it! Can't wait to get my rig out of storage and really give it a fair test

Ive got a GT Omega pro cockpit and Thrustmaster T500 RS set up - just need to get a system built and Ill be back in the driving seat in the evenings!

Looking to see how things have progressed with Pcars tbh

A friend of mine was complaining because there are no Lambos and he's unable drift in it.
I cant even.

im just playing with a 360 controller will be looking to grab a steering wheel when I sort a study out to have the room to store a wheel,
im enjoying the game so far only raced the clio cup races so far in career mode, haven't tried tinkering too much yet slowly moving the ai up on the scale which is really nice feature! the game still seems like it needs some polishing in places which is a shame, the only real racing experience ive had before this is forza on the 360

Been playing it this weekend on a PS4. It's pretty damn good. Will need it on PC with the wheel for a proper testing though.

If you want to Drift, Assetto Corsa is the game to try, be warned it's damn hard to do and you will need a wheel to master it.

After a drive dying in my gaming rig raid array Ive lost my game saves for Shift 1 & 2 - so Ive aquired 'ultimate game saves' thanks to the interwebs - its going to be interesting if Pcars can keep me away from the Shift games I love when I have 2 billion dollars to spend and everything unlocked!

I've had a dabble with it on a xbox 360 controller it's looking good though I can see me having late nights on this game :)

PCars for me is a fun game and does a lot right.
it does 1 thing wrong... "force feed back" And that is a reall killer.
I hope they patch it out and fix it because it could be a good game.. its a lot like forza 4 on the xbox 360 was. and that was a pretty fun MP game.
I still prefer driving In AC "because the FFB is just so much better at telling you what the car is doing"
BUT if they can get the FFB right in PCars it will be a really fun game to play. Its still pretty fun right now. but its not really a sim sim. its more of an arcade sim kinda deal.
Like i said before other places. if this game had been released a few years ago, and before Asetto corsa. then i possibly would have called it a sim, but that would only have been because i did not know any better. We also race with some friends on a Monday night and one of them has taken many cars around many of the tracks. and they will often comment on if its gripping right and so on. AC is more right more of the time. But it has some serious issues else where.
So AC wins for me, but if they get that FFB working right in PCars i may end up playing that more because its just a lot more fun, less work. and easier to arange the MP games for the cars and tracks you want.

You know you can tune the hell out of the FFB right? Have a go to see if you can get it feeling right for you.

have done. tried my self tried suggested settings for my wheel. tried variations of that.. just is no where near as informative as AC. its really strange. cars like the 98t have a strange effect which is like front wheel drive torque steer. "that is what it feels like" instead of informing you that you are loosing traction at the back. it tells you that the front wheels are gripping and pulling you to one side, which is just horribly wrong.
And then to make matters worse what you would naturally do to correct that "force the wheel straight" works where it should not work at all because its rear wheel drive and you should have had to apply the correct amount of oppo whilst feeding the correct amount of throttle to correct it.
Then there are cars that just grip and grip and grip and then they are gone. no warning no possible chance to hold it at all..
It is the only game i have ever seen with the option for "opposit lock help" which is a bit of a warning flag..

But it really is a fun game and does a whole lot right. the only issue is the MOST important part it is getting wrong, Hopefuly they will fix it, But with how long it was delayed you would have hoped it would be perfect by now.

Im not saying AC was perfect out of the box "and i wont say it is perfect now either" i bought that as early access, spent ages setting up the FFB then they changed it spent ages again then they changed it "and on and on that went"
But now it really is just MILES better than anything else when it comes to information you get through the ffb.
it just has a LOT of other issues that make it less desirable to play. although it is still the game we play every week for our race night even though we all have both.

It would have been better if PCars had been release early access too IMO. that way the feed back from a much larger "non loyal due to insentive" player base could have had things like that nailed by now.
I do think it was hampered a bit by overly enthusiastic yes men who could see no wrong with the game.
But now it s released and a Lot of people do seem to think the same as i do they may possibly look at it i guess.. Although i assume they will be concentrating on the issues on the console releases 1st then the game pad issues. and then release some dlc, and Possibly after that fix the FFB if there are any wheel users left playing by then.

I've never been so unimpressed with a racing game in recent history. Its got all the feel of Forza but without any of the bits that makes Forza unique/fun.

I just personally feel that it had alot of potential that was wasted. Don't get me wrong though, its a pretty game.

Elaborate?

I haven't played Forza since the second one because I felt it was such life draining experience. I don't even own pCars but it felt a lot better than I ever remember Forza being.

Ok,
The handling feels alot more like the recent forza games (albeit an overly grippy forza for the most part excluding road cars). That'd be ok if the game had the variety of Forza. It doesn't. It has some nice features but for the most part if I wanted a slightly more arcadey driving experience I'd go for Forza as its always fun to mess around and make your own cars/go drifting/ drive a 1000hp Fiat 500. If I wanted a more realistic game I'd go AC. This is an awkward balance of small car selection and limited customization/racing (AC) with slightly forgiving arcade-esque physics with a focus on 'realism' (Forza).

Yuck.

This is based on a couple of hours of playing it with a wheel, I don't own it either but if I'm honest, its not sold me at all.

the funny thing is.. I bought ac because i wanted a forza type game on the pc, i only had a 360 and a ffb wheel for the 360 to play forza, I did not even have a 360 pad...
And it was a bit much paying the online fees just to play once a week.
AC filled the bill and it was just much better at the driving so all the other failures was forgiven..
Now I have PCars and it is forza for the pc. it is what i was looking for when i found AC.
But now after having AC even though PCars looks better (it does look better) is easier to set up for mp games. you dont have to mess around with cfg files to set up a resonable server. you an chose the car and track you want to race on after every race, and you dont have a time limit for people to chose a car then join the track. The driving part is not as good as AC.
PCars suffers because any one who has a FFB wheel and AC will decide AC is just better.
Its annoying to me because I would really like for PCars to be just as good on the driving front. that way i would have a new game to play.
And AC devs may start to listen to what we were saying about how match making should work. and that we need to be able to join during qually when the server is in booking mode, or be able to select any car we want from pick up mode and not be limited to car selection.
The way the maps loop also needs to be changed as people would like to chose the track as well as the car.
these are things you can do easily in PCars, and i would not need a dedicated server system just for race nights "which i did have to get for asetto corsa"
