OHHHHH!!!!!!! Now I see! That cat lives here!

His name is Sam.

I just call him SH**Head for short.

Just waiting for one more small box from SVC.

I'm trying to decide if I want to get the inside of the case powdercoated or if I'm going to spray paint it. I have to make some calls tomorrow to get some cost on the powdercoating.

Thats it for now.

Lol @ the cat :P Had seen it in the first pics too I think :P

Love the amount of gear you got in :yumyum:. Do you already have the rest of your hardware or does it still have to arrive?

How much did you pay for shipping btw, with so many shops sending to you :o

I love getting new parcels, you don't get the same feeling as buying from a shop :D

Will be keeping a eye on this!

New parcels are always delightful. Almost nothing beats that "cardboard box full of fresh parts" smell.

Looking forward to seeing the build.

Yeah, the cat. He is a real trip. Daddy's boy.

Shipping was only $75 US which wasn't bad considering that the case and power supply are heavy. I also had those two pieces double boxed for safety. And, I also had the power supply tested before they sent it. No DOA on that anyway. That added an additional $15 US. For a total of about $90 US. Still a good price IMHO.

The rest of the pieces or "main guts of the computer will be purchased as the funds are available. I think with the next paycheck, I will buy the CPU, the hard drives and the Optical drive. Then there is the powdercoating decision. Then a waiting game after that. I want to learn more about the new Evga motherboard coming out and a real price on that. The "Classified". Also, waiting for some price drops to happen on the memory and the video card(s).

I was planning on a long build for the computer. I knew that couldn't get everything at once.

And the smell! Kinda like buying a new car.

Then there is the feeling of excitement on a "New Build"

Gotta Luv it!

I guess painting the inside of the case is the way I will have to go.

I called at least a dozen powder coating places here and no-one wants to touch it. They say inside AND out or nothing. Or, the project is too small.

I have looked into the equipment for powder again and I can get a decent system for under $200 US but the problem is that I have no place to bake the case once it is coated.

I will have to hope that I have a decent day next week when I'm on vacation and get out the rattle cans. It's a little cold here right now. The high today was -12 C.

I GOT to stop looking at project logs.... seeing all these pictures of boxes full of new gear is agonizingly painful.

MUST..... RESIST..... NEW...... PROJECT! >.<

Just a minor update:

I now have the case disassembled, sanded, taped and ready to go for painting. I will probably paint tomorrow. It should be warm enough to paint in my garage with a small heater running.

I have about 10 hours in the project already just in disassembly and prep work. I just hope that it pays off, especially since all this work is just for the inside of the case and spraying with a rattle can.

I'll post up some pics tomorrow.

i just saw the thread now, cool pics, and cat also lol :p, hmm wich color the HAF will be? can't wait till tomorrow

good luck with the mods dude.

Soap.

I am just painting the inside of the case. I picked up some High Gloss Black Laquer. I will lay that down over the primer and then clear coat it with a high gloss laquer clear coat.

i see, anyways, i was also thinking of painting the interior of my old case (the one im using right now with the Q6600) does i really need to use a paint (base) and then a clear one? it helps to protect the painting or its just for the looks? if you can help me with that i would be very gratefull since painting isn't one of my best habilities.

Soap.

No, the clear is not necessary. Just an extra step that I am taking.

What is necessary is the preparation, sanding and primer, at least IMHO.

Subscribed. Looking forward to checking out your progress. Particularly exciting casing, as for some odd reason, I feel myself gravitating towards casing that have a LARGE side panel fan, whether them being feasible or not, an entirely different question.
