Ok build the pc , connected everyting etc .....

First powerup , got into bios , tried to change some settings but the pc froze (within the bios).

Finally got in the bios to change the raid settings so my hds would be recognized.

Installed windows without a problem.

Flashed the bios from the mobo , pc freezed but after the bios was flashed , luckily.

Rebooted , got in to windows flashed the proms firmware, again the pc froze.

Connected the proms usb cable in another pc and flashed the firmware that way.

Now i can get into the bios and change settings without freezing the pc (well most of the time).

But know the pc freezes while installing windows.Tried to install windows several times but the pc freezes on different points during install (but never get to finish the install).

So the prob now is how to get windows installed (after numerous reboots sometimes it doesnt even pass post, but thats sometimes now)

Pc specs :

Asus A8n32sli deluxe

X2 4800+

2gb Ocz pc4000EB

Enermax noisetaker 600W

Xfi fatal1ty

Asus 7800Gt (for now ,have a watercooled X1900xtx ready to insert if everything else is stable)

Prom Mach II GT (doh)

I've run out of ideas for now , help ............. :@

is everything at default? What are your RAM settings in the BIOS? How old are your HDD(s)?

:)

Kenny

P.S.... Welcome to EP-UK

Yup everything is at default , meaning that the bios sets the ram to 250 mhz.I allready have tried with mem at 200mhz.But that doesnt help.

Hds are Wd raptor 150Gb (x2) and Wd 320 gb se16 (x2).

Hds are also new , and the first time win installed without probs.

Yes all ram timings are auto. Like i said i allready have tried with ram set at 200.Also tried with ram at 200 and voltage at 2,8 (what ocz states at their website , the voltage that is).The ram is rated at 250 mhz and timings 3-3-2 1T.

OK ripped everything out thats not necessary for installing windows (soundcard , 2 hds etc) .....nogo.

Tried 2 different types of ram (corsair and crucial) ........nogo.

I'm going to disassemble the system and have another try at air ,just to see if its still stable at air (tested the system first on air and was stable).

If not i probably need some new components. If it is stable probably too.

Because if its stable i guess my cpu don't like low temps.

Will take a while , keep you updated

Well problem solved.

Everything works fine now. I bought an asus a8r32mvp deluxe in advance (mobo was my first suspect) reassembled the system and no probs.

1 thing though the mobo needs more voltage options in the bios (max is 1,4+0,2=1,6 which gives you 1,53).Or maybe an fx60 will get me higher (the fx line gets 1,55+0,2=1,75 on this board).Well have to wait a couple of bios updates then.

The mobo that gave me the headache is running along nicely now on air with no probs (so far) :?

Now its waiting for my new psu to arrive ,insert the psu and the crossfire cards ,fill the watercooling and the system is done.
