Problem with overvolting 5770

hey yesterday i managed 900/1300 stable on my 5770 max temp of 40min furmark was 70c

i then unlocked the voltage settings in msi afterburner by altering the .cfg file, then is settings ticked the box to allow voltage changes.

my stock is 1.2mv

but any changes dont seem to stick i tried 1.27mv 1000/1400 but when ever i changed the clocks one of them would go back to default but the volts dident.on the odd time they dident i ran furmark and the voltages in the top right corner was 1.2mv not 1.27mv,so i am assuming it did not stick as it crashed infact it crashed at whatever volts a tried even 1.35mv.

also its odd that the clocks dont stick when i press apply then go back to default, when i set the volts to stock again, there fine

No you dont you just need to unlock the unorthorised overclocking.

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner) and open the MSIAfterburner.cfg file using Wordpad. Find the following setting:

Code:

EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 0and change it to:

Code:

EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1

This will allow us to bypass the limitation that stops you from passing the limits of ATi Overdrive A BIOS flash is not necessary to do this, you just need to edit the file

thats what i did tom, sorry i thought i mentioned it

it seems evrytime i enable voltage change none on my overclocks stick even if i dont change the volts

yer i have fella

also i put 900/1350 in CCC but in afterburner it was still showing 850/1200,do they not link well?

just seems it does not like voltages, when i enable monitoring in afterburner,i dont see a graph for my volts, and like i said furmark shows 1.2mv regardless

XFX may have locked it out bro. Possibly to protect their black edition range? Dunno.

I could be completely wrong of course and probably am. I know bugger all about overvolting :D

Afterburner isnt a full proof prog tbh. Is there an XFX tool that came with the card, have you tried rivatuner?

maybe, 1.2mv seems high aswell i thought they were 1.1mv or 1.5mv for stock 5770's

hmm thats annoying it took me ages to get it to shows the voltages now it does they dont work lol

i wish the MSI HAWK was the same price as this XfX 5770 when i whent picking it up lol

EDIT- no there is no software like that just the drivers

i did try rivatuner but there is nothing for voltage changes not even for clock changes,i think i read its not compatble yet.

dude that whole flashing thing looks far tom complicated,i mean ile try anything but tht looks hard and dangerus

but i think i have a crap card anyway,i mean i cant get 1400 on the memory and 900 is my max on core

ive seen loads of people hit over 1400 on the memory and arounf 920 on the core some with stock volts aswell

Sorry to butt in Tom mate but yeah, I think he's running the same card as me :) Stock XFX 5770 with the stock ATI shroud cooler. I'll be interested to see this stuff as it pertains to my rig :)

I know that ref to ref bios is fine but Im not going to tell some one to do it on a 3rd party custom PCB and then it brick their GPU.

You can download the asus bios and just flash it over if it is ref.

yes sorry tom i do have the reference xfx 5770 on the box it says its VerE3

it has not got the egg cooler it has the normal ATI shroud blower cooler like Alien said

Ill try and find the Bios on the net, but tbh dude be easier if you have a look round. Im crazy busy with stuff at home and 3D stuff atm to hunt it out. Once youve got it Ill show you what you need to do as its dead easy.
