Price Cut! AMD lowers the MSRP of their Radeon RX 7700 XT

Great news. I feel like RDNA3 is closing in on where it should be now across the board. Some have criticised the 7900 GRE, but I think it's not too bad. I agree that the 7700XT should be no more than $400, but $420 is closer to a realistically ideal point.

I don't see the 7800XT coming down in price though. That seems to be selling very well at its current price.

Well if it doesn't then they simply won't sell one more than they already have.

GRE as of about 30 seconds ago.

XT as of about 25 seconds ago.

Once again this is a dumb show from AMD. Contradicting their own cards.

I get they want to compete with the Super series, but ffs not like this. This is embarrassing.

There is the theory that AMD are purposefully doing this in order to sell the big die that's in the GRE off that won't function as the 7900XT or XTX. Once that stock is gone, GRE will just function as a 'concept' product that doesn't really exist.

Well tbh unless they stop making 7900 XT and XTX they will always end up with these surely?

I'm a bit sad they are pointless to me or I would buy one tbh.

Yeah, true. But the XT and XTX have been out for a long time now and I imagine yields are getting better. The stockpile might be quite high. Like you said, those dud chips will continue to pile up so we should still see the GRE available at times. It's a theory that the guy Moore's Law Is Dead has.

Also, the GRE seems to be quite good with RT vs the 4070. Daniel Owen (great channel) recently posted his experience with the two cards and found that for practical purposes the GRE was equal in terms of RT and better in terms of Raster.

these cards in an around the same mark could be the new 480 580 stock cause there prices are going to plummet at the end of the year, I'd not be surprised to see these as sub £300 cards in the not too distant future.

Which of course means my 6800XT as well, dam it's been a solid card and with FSR and frame gen will last this wave until 9k series, just unsure if 8k will still be worth as a 1 year card for me it really depends on certain games.

Nah that isn't going to happen. This is just AMD's reaction to the Super range. Instead of lowering prices they are just slipping this in there as well.

Prices won't change for ages now. Even if the 5090 comes out they won't change much either, as from the sound of what that will cost? it won't affect anything else, not even the 4090.

AMD's next gen on the other hand? well I have heard mumblings they won't be much faster but will be much cheaper. At which point you can expect cards like the 6800XT et al to plummet in price.

Still, price don't matter if you ain't selling. Always been my motto tbh. I use mine daily, so I couldn't give a toss what they are worth. Electronics have always been about the worst "investment" you can make, so go in expecting nothing back 'cause inevitably that is what you will get.

That is my point as xtx performance at £500 will make prices tumble.

I'm not worried about the prices for me on these cards I want the 9k series or a better performance card than the xtx.

My 6800xt I'm never selling I'm taking it to the grave lol

But the coming year is highly interesting for people on lower cards as the 2nd hand markets will get flooded and at them prices will be the biggest boost pc gaming has had in years.

So I expect devs will make more demanding games that is where my thoughts are. But the way the drivers are working for me right now is just really good with rsr and afmf just really good so it all depends on coming games as the console gen is at its mid point so some big games are coming that we most likely haven't even heard about.

That's the one part I miss of my past is getting to play games way before release but there good memories of that time.
