PowerColor shows off their Radeon R9 390X DEVIL GPU, but be warned, this is not AMD F

Did you not see the quote marks? No, you're too busy trying to get a 1-up even though the persons point WAS WRONG and I was right. You are some of the most obnoxious forum members I've ever come across too busy trying to defend AMD rather than actually discuss the point like an adult.

So in the fringe case of 4K gaming, it has an advantage (link please, would like to see that it's not just drivers)....But for anyone else, stick with the 970...

Lol:) Funny resemblance:)

Mazty wants the 290x to beat the 980 though, besides doesnt matter what evidence you give them they wont accept it unless it benefits their argument.

Well TBH Mazty really needs "hands on" experience with these cards then I would take notice of what he says :D
maybe his rig specs in his sig would be a good start

Well Matzy believes in google more than members that have actually had first hand experience with them so...

According to their post, they have a 280x

well back on topic the R9390X is going to be an 8GB rebrand of the R9 290X it seems but it will have an updated bios I should imagine

well its still a few more days but i'm looking forward to see some more 8GB cards cause i'm in the need of one! or 2 :$ Cause if i remember right, there werent THAT much cards with 8GB vram right?

Only some of the R9 290x had 8gb variants of them as far as im aware unless you count the 12gb titan

No one here hoping for an ASUS R390x with a triple fan cooler, something like they released not so long ago for the 980ti? i kinda loved it

yeah im looking forward to Sapphires cooling solution on them myself :D

It'd be great if you could crossfire the 390x with the 290x especially for you :D

I wouldnt mind, as long as they do pull the s*** they did with the 290x matrix.

The fact that the 390x core is called Grenada rather than Hawai (if its not some marketing scheme) points out there could be more changes. Hopefully a GCN update. The colour compression tech on Tonga cores was pretty good, perhaps its on 390x too now.

About the discussion earlier, what Mazty forgets is that when we are not speaking about the bleeding-tech-edge cards, price/performance is what most buyers will be looking for and a Sapphire tri-x 290 is cheaper than a gtx 970 and performance is the same, while temps are rly good. Gtx 980 are out of this comparison if the buyer will look at the price.

Lets see how AMD prices the 390 range, but if its 350 as most leaks say, it should have some other improvements than 4gb ram.

I think I should be able to although I would have to put water blocks on them to fit in my case but I was going to put this R9 290x under water anyway'

and yeah I had the Asus HD7970 Matrix Platinum the sapphire coolers are far superior IMO but lets hope Asus do bring a tri cooler to these cards :)

You are right there EXAR most of us do go price/performance rather than "cutting edge" but I do hope the 390X is compatible with the 290x that would be awesome :) I got my R9 290X VaporX for just £275 and I love it I barely hear it in my rig unless i'm heavily benchmarking

- gcn update - well that has already been said a few times, so we can be kinda certain that will happen :D I think every one is eagerly waiting what amd will provide us price-wise.

To be honest, i've got the feeling that there has been no REAL improvement last year (2years) that made a person worth upgrading for. Or is that just me with too high expactations?

Tbh sometimes rebrands can work well as they are more "fine-tuned" and refined but like you said lets see what AMD brings to the table as they have been very quiet about this launch

The only strange thing is, why didn't AMD push sooner for an update on GCN cores, it should have helped them considering the whole thing with the 970's 3,5gb of vram.

Unless they want to 1-up nvidia over the whole range and planned a launch on all tier price points.

I still have a reference cooled HIS 7970 and that thing still OCs like crazy, it even beats the 780. Obviously it isnt able to maintain the performance on the stock cooler though :D was nice that there was the option to CF with the 280x.

Your guess is as good as anyone's Exar :)

Because it's cheaper. It still performs great and easily OC'able. I don't see why you would buy a 970. Your getting 3.5GB of vram, while it's hardly an issue now, in the future it will just become more apparent with games consuming more.

You totally forgot the massive coil whine issues on the 970's :p... Got 3 different and all were screaming like a rat was being torned apart.

Also, when will these be released?... and is the 390X gonna effect the 980Ti's pricing you think?...

Launch on 18th of june, at E3. I think AMD Fury(Fiji) will compete with GTX980ti. 390x will prolly be competition for 970, or if AMD did something unexpected maybe closer to 980, but thats the best possibility i can see.
