Hello all :)

I, like 95% of people, mount my PSU fan down. But I do think it looks a lot nicer the other way round as we all know Tom does. I would do this too, but my main fear would be what if something like a screw falls through the fan grill and shorts something inside the PSU? And even if it doesn't short it out, I couldn't take it apart to remove the artifact without voiding the warranty. Has anybody got any experience with this happening or anything to point out or add?

I've never really had a major problem with it tbh.

You can take off the fan grill without voiding the warranty though, so if you move the fan slightly out you can usually turn it upside down and shake it out, or put a hand in and get it out yourself.
I don't really see it as a problem.

Just be careful and don't drop screws down in the first place :p

And if it does happen, give it time before reaching in. There have been cases of people fiddling with PSUs, even unplugged and getting electrocuted as the caps inside hold enough charge to kill for several hours/days after being unplugged.

Can't call this a "problem" can you? When you are working inside, put a rag, piece of paper... cover the fan grill with something to make sure things don't fall in or... just leave it as it is and don't turn it around in the first place. Nothing wrong with that.
If something does fall in just turn it around and give it a little shake till it fall out trough the fan grill.
