hi guys, can anybody help, i have just bought and installed a ocz 600w mod extreme pro, the problem is that when i switch off the computer it shuts down as it normally does but the fans keep on going and not switching off, also i still have power lights on on the motherboard.i thought it might just power off after a short while, but it will keep on for hours until i switch it off at the plug. all i have done is replace the power suply nothing else. it seems that power is constantly running through the motherboard even when powered down, do you think there is a problem with the power suply?the old power suply just shut everything down and there was no power to the motherboard, seems strange. any help would be realy appreciated as if problem power suply i can get it replaced as it is only 4 days old

If all you have changed is the PSU then it sounds like the new one is the problem. If you replace it don't get an OCZ one. They can be a little dodgy.
OCZ PSU for you. Return it, explain whats wrong. Get a refund and replace it with a quality unit not the cheap POS you bought 
thanks guys for the replys, i have contacted dabs and they have told me it will take 10 days to sort things out as either way the power suply has got to be checked.it will have to wait till next week to send back because i dont have the cash to buy the better power suply untill then, i will buy a corsair suply like i was going to in the first place. we all learn hard lessons, buy quality like i normaly do.

At your price point I'd probably go for a Silverstone power supply (Strider 500w/600w) as they're fully modular, well built and well priced for what they are.
I couldn't live without a modular psu now
Just what I'd do though - nothing at all wrong with the lower cost Corsair units - other than them not being modular

Speaking as someone who didn't take James' advice when buying my own parts, I can tell you that this is a very wise suggestion.
I bought an XFX 750w non-modular because it was fairly cheap ($80 with a $25 rebate, so $55), was reviewed well, and has a 5 year warranty. It's made by Seasonic, so I'm sure it'll be very dependable, but it would be awfully nice to be able to remove all of the cables that will never be used. It'd also be nice to be able to sleeve my cables properly without voiding the warranty.

Actually - sleeving modular cables does void the warranty with Corsair. If it does break, you need a complete kit back with it otherwise they won't accept it - so you'd have to buy a spare modular cable kit before sending it back, which isn't particularly easy to find...

Yeah, but you can buy extra modular cables directly from the Seasonic supplier (assuming it's one of the Seasonic-built Corsairs). I saw on Tom's Hardware (iirc) that Antron Electronics supplies their cables and will provide extras for $4 per cable plus shipping. They'll also do custom spec cables, so if you needed a longer 8-pin cpu cable for a large case, they'll hook you up. So you could just sleeve the replacements and leave the originals untouched in case of RMA.
I guess you could always buy the wiring and connectors and make your own modular cables, but I think I'd rather pay the $4/ea.
Of course, I found this info after I bought the XFX.
thanks for the reply's guys,i am thinking about getting the corsair tx850m power suply,i am willing to spend the little extra,dabs are selling it for £98.13, which is where i bought the ocz rubbish,i normaly use aria for my bits but they want £113 for it ,do you guys think this is a good suply? many thanks

The TXM is semi-modular rather than fully, and I think most cables are attached directly to the supply. If I recall correctly, there are only 4 modular cables, and I *think* they're the PCIe 6+2 pin and the SATA ones, most of which you'll likely be using anyway. If the normal TX model is much cheaper, you'd probably be better off just getting that.
