hey there,

ive finally sold my mach1 to a 14yr old kid in london, problem is im in manchester so getting it there should be fun...

has anyone sent a prommy via post on this forum

ive got a box that fits it snuggly as well as foam packing so it would be snug but i want to guarantee it will not be tilted during transport etc and that if it does die it would be insured

well if youve sent one let me know which courier you used, what you sent, if it got there, if it died, how much it cost etc???

cheeeers

ps i really have to post it this week so speed is of the essense... danke

To be honest, I've got an account with parcelforce, and while they have a pretty mediocre reputation, I've sent 5 or 6 units back and forth and never had one get damaged.

I pack them very well, and label them THIS SIDE UP on every side along with FRAGILE stickers or at least writing FRAGILE and they've all been fine using parcelforce48.

None of the couriers are any better than the people they employ. No matter who you send with, it could get damaged, so pack it accordingly.

There's no serious harm in the unit being on it's side for a while though, just as long as if it is, it's left for the oil to settle before starting up, I'd recommend 24 hours if you're not sure, but at least an hour regardless.

yeh i understand that even if a company is reputable theres always a monkey driving a transit...

i remember waiitng for my mates mixer to arrive and the guy brought a MASSIVE box to the door.. im like errr wrong one mate, try again

he kicked the box back into the van and began sifting thru each parcel chucking each against the side of the van as he went thru them. eventually he came to the right parcel and i cringed but he didnt throw it... phew

yeh so im skeptical if i had a car id drive it...

do parcelforce come and pick it up at your house? as its really too heavy to take to a depot id need to get a taxi... and also how much did it cost with parcelforce roughly?

If you have an account, they pick up at no extra, and it's pretty cheap...

you'll have to check for non account holders, I think they charge for pickup, but all in all you shouldn't have to pay more than £25 and probs £20 or so

cheers lads i was trying to sign up with amtrak but i needed an account number which is tres annoying...

might try citilink, ill give them a bell monday

You'll need to be a business to get an account with them too mate - best bet is to use parcel 2 go which will cost about £20. Just make sure you pack it incredibly well and dont put any excessive down pressure on the tube!

aye i know i dont want to be damaging the tube after my first incident with the postal service and a graphics cards that must have been catapluted to its destination everything is packed with the utmost of care

cheers :)

u should be able to get amtrak to deliver ur parcel. i did last week, i got them to send a 21" montier to Ireland for me. i just rang up my local depot.
