Would be good if ceramic brakes did that. What you're describing would be vented carbon ceramic discs about twice the size of the standard ones with new calipers with double or more the amount of pistons, a whole new pump and feed system and tyres worth more than the original car.

And the list of modifications you would need to make to a civic (will list if you fancy a read) to get its fat ass to 62 in 4 seconds would be epic and exceed the wallet of the majority of people

Anyone who spends that on a Civic would be an idiot for sure, the list of hardware required for that would be mental.

I don't think they even make ceramic breaks for Civics and if they did you'd be talking 1000's for just the parts.

he has a rather...lucrative job shal we say, and he just likes the civic over more modern counterparts, so he was willing to pour such money into it :)

Well he hasn't otherwise he would have one of the best civics on the planet.

Brembo Civic GT BB kit: £2200 -that gets you 4piston calipers and

Goodridge Civic braided steel brake hoses: £70/80

4 yokohama 17 or 18" advan sport: £720

Thats the sort of stuff he would have access to. Then add a new cylinder and booster and mess with the ECU and youre still nowhere near 100-0 in 2seconds. You're talking heavily oversized discs, 10/14 piston calipers and a state of the art brake management system, in a civic thats been stripped of everything other than a wheel and the driver.

he's very...particular about his cars, he likes that civic and that civic only, and has poured all his money into it...

i know was i saw, felt, experienced...so whaever stats you can come up with is fine, i dont really understand it asmuch as i would like to though...

he has stripped out everything but the steeting wheel, front and back seats, the hifi, the counters, and ...well, maybe two cd's, thats it...

And what's the use for an 18 year old to ride a fast car when he's not able to handle it yet? When you've had your licence for about 5 years or so, you can call yourself an experienced driver, and then you could invest in a speedmonster. Just my opinion though.
You dont have to be experienced to know how to handle a fast car. It just helps alot. Having your license for a period of time dosent mean squat. You could have been not driving that whole time, or if you where you where just driving in traffic. If you where racing those whole 5 years maybe, but other than that just having your license dosent mean anything. Ive been driving for about 6 years now and ive had my license since i was 16. Ive been learning everything i can from a street racer whos been doing it for years (Since the 70s). In the right car i can slide around a corner like theres no tomorrow. As for big fast V8s like the Mustangs i got, well those would be used for drag racing IF i decide to race them at all. I probably will just make them look nice and thats that.

I would kill to live somewhere where I could pick up a clapped out mustang for pocket shrapnel :(

Well i got lucky, these 2 where my parents and i dont think they want to fiddle with them anymore. (In other words i think they are tired of dumping money into them) I just think the problem was the half assed everything they did with those cars so they got half ass back. Im going to put my all into it and hopefully i get some really good quality cars back.

Okay, that did maybe come out a bit wrong, but an 18 year old who's only got his licence I wouldn't say is a good driver. Imo, the licence is only a certificate for being good enough to learn on his own. I've been driving almost every day for 6 years, and I would consider myself a good driver, but there's still more I can learn. And what I mean by a good driver, is being able to drive well in traffic, and adjusting your driving to your surroundings, weather etc. I work as a professional driver (courier), and every single day I see idiots in traffic whom should never have gotten their licence in the first place. And you could even see huge differences nationally, between the southern and northern regions of Norway, i.e. when it comes to driving on snow/ice, as when it's 10cm of snow on the ground, roads are closed and chaos is imminent in the southern parts of Norway.

Yea i agree about that. When it snows here (North Texas Dallas Metro area) people go NUTS and i stay off the roads no matter what. Up north, nobody is botherd by it. I dont clame to be a real good driver on icy or snowy weather though cause i live in the south. Im just talking about speed and racing im a good driver. (I act like a maniac in traffic and i have bad road rage LOL but never had a wreck....*knocks on wood*)

Meh im 17 and tbh ide say i was a pretty good driver. Cba with all this speed lark.. Save it for the track, ive had a couple of track days in mini's when i was younger.. Oh when 60 Felt so fast..

You can be a good driver at any age.. Its just the experience you lack.. The boy racers of this day and age give us young drivers a bad name.

As for spending that much money on cars on a young age is an utter waste of time and money obviously. Its just pouring money into nowhere.. The insurance he'll be paying will be more than his car is worth.

Tbh I love driving fast, and I do so when I get the chance, as long as I see that it's safe. And I would never dream of driving reckless with people in the car, as I won't put their lives in danger (and don't come talking bout innocent bystanders being in danger), but when I feel the need for speed, I'm always in full control of what I'm doing, and when I lose a tad control, I slow down. It's not worth the risk of injury or a smashed car. And yes, I've been in a collision, but that wasn't even because of high speed, it was in the winter, 30km/h, 18 years old and just got my licence. But you learn...And up here, almost no one goes through their first winter without an accident of some sorts.

I agree totally and there are young drivers who are good

It's just the ones who get a bit too much testorone when they get behind the wheel who need to be filtered out

It's funny 'cause once you've been in an accident, no matter who's fault it was, it really teaches you stuff.

But ye I'm with you. I love driving fast but only do it when it's safe to do so, not at rush hour or in traffic or in built up areas

Yeah, you'd be mentally ill to speed in a built up area where there are kids running around'n'stuff. But I mean, if the speed limit on an open road is 60, I see no harm in driving in 80, or even 100, as long as traffic and common sense allows it.

In American there are ways of getting around it. In the days of old they called them sleepers. If it dosent look like a racer they wont insure it as a racer. Then your only putting your hard earned money on your own shoulders cause if you wreck it its your fault and you lose all that money. If i street race i only street race with the guys that have been doing it a LONG time. Basicly in Cleburne (A city about 20 miles south of me) they have a street racing scene and those guys know how to drive. But its only like drag races and stuff. No stupid Fast and Furious type racing or anything that can seriously get you killed fast. Oh, and its demanded no NOS. Theyve had somebody blown up in a car before and they put an end to that (Thank God)

Sorry to say, but your friend isn't very intelligent ionicle. Removing the air bags?

Niceeeeeeee less weight > life

Wow, nice timing! I bought my first car today! Taking delivery Wednesday, when the previous owners new car comes in. It's a 1997 Nissan Altima.

Currently car-less, but in the past 4 or so years i have been driving, i've had a MKII Golf, a MKII Polo, a MKIII Golf and *sigh* - a Suzuki Swift Automatic. Oh, and my mum's 1.1 Rover 200.

Nothing at all special about them. Will post some pics up later.
