Poparamiro's GTX590

He has done the same thing with a 6990.

Well spotted, I merely got his 590 linkage. Dunno if I'd be brave enough to do this, but his coolers seem to work fantastically.

If a mod picks this up, I'd appreciate a title change to "6990 & 590". tia.

i saw a PCIexpress adapter to put the card paralel with the mobo. 90 degree angle. I think that's wat it does. I look for a link. That'd help so the heatsinks stay with gravity at least.

Good stuff thanks

Here I think I don't know if it'll put the card the right way round. What does this do: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/170196

it wont work. We could ask them to make 1 that swaps the lanes round so the card chips face up

Them pci/pcie riser adapters are in common use with servers. Not only to help you get away with full size cards (above 1/2/3u, and don't need any sockets, like raid cards) but if you had to plug something into the intended card, like a gfxcard, you'd need a case that was sympathetic to it.

Handy for oc'ers I'd imagine if there's a growing trend to do cooling like this outside of cases.

2x Noctua NH-D14 on a 6990/590 anyone ?

If anyone does fancy doing that, with the backing of a supplier or something, please review the process with pics etc

Aaaargh, didn't think of that.

How about one of those micro atx mobos with the pcie on the end ?

Still be a crazy benching setup.

lmao, just face facts, I can't work a pcie riser into the equation

I wonder.. 2x NH-D14.. installed in a similar fashion to Poparamiro's, all 4 fans facing the rear (or the front cos it wouldn't matter on a test bench).

hehe gotta get em on somehow !

that's got to be excellent and maby could run cool enough without fans connected

stick a massive G clamp on there, sod zip ties

we're joking kiddies

don't do that

I would just be waiting for a snap with a cable tie going and the pcb cracking or something. Surely it's ultimately pointless as watercooling wouldn't be much more expensive and better looking, not to mention you can relax without wondering when your expensive card will snap under the weight
