pny 6200 problems

Iv recently baught a PNY 6200 256Mb (non turbo cache) graphics card which uses the NV44 (A1) chip. I am unable to unlock the extra pixel pipelines as its the NV44 BUT im also unable to ajust the clock or memory speeds in the slightest (even by one Mhz). It just makes the system hang completly.Iv checked that it IS the system that freezes, not the card. Iv tried changing the drivers to older ones, iv tried riva tuner, iv tried the registry hack that allows me to ajust the speeds via the Nvidia driver and the problem still remains.I have THOUGHT about flashing the bios to a 6600 but im usure whether this will work, all because of the NV44 chip.

Basically id like to clock it as high as possible. I have enough cooling to take it up pretty damn high, so the crashing is my only problem

Im not a retard, so any information you need, just ask.

Any help would be much appreciated, thankyou.

Well we're definately glad you're not a retard :) lol

It sounds like it could possibly be a card BIOS problem... What I suggest before we move further is making a custom BIOS in NiBiTor w/ higher stock clock speeds and see if your system works correctly. If it does then we've narrowed the problem a bit and you can then try unlocking the remaining pipelines and tweaking the speed in Windows. If it still crashes when trying to make adjustments in Windows then your only bet might be to make all changes via the BIOS.

I don't know a lot about the unlocking and overclockability of the 6200's, someone else might be able to shed more light on the situation than I can.

haha, ignor the e-mail i sent you earlier, it was in a moment of confusion.

I used NVFlash after, edited the clockspeed in NiBiTor, and went into MS-DOS. Im sure you dont need to be told this, im just really chuffed

thankyou!

Cheers Fragtek, Im a mate of llwyds and I'm also pleased as hell as this bloody NV44 chip had me stumped aswell.
