Please help

I cannot get air out of my loop, it was running fine and today i decided to add a water block onto my 2nd gpu.

Im running it as follows - XSPC bay res and pump > cpu > gpu 1 > gpu 2 > ram block > rad 1 > rad 2 back to res/pump.

The first rad is on the back of my case and the second on the top.

Im using mayhem coolant so its very easy to see the flow, in the res its moving as normal but in the pipes its hardly moving at all and from my cpu to gpu the pipe is basically empty with a tiny trickle running through it.

ive tried everything, tilting the case everyway, ive even turned right over in every way, ive stopped and started the pump, ive tried pinching the pipes with my fingers.
At first i thought my pump might be knackard so ive changed it, ive drained the system 3 times and refilled it and i always get the same result.
Ive left it for 2 hours now to see if it shifts but its still exactly the same, ive really run out of options to try now and im pulling my hair out.
like i said everything was fine until i added the second gpu block today.

The air is locked in your rad(s) mate. You need to tilt the case according to how the rads flow ie, get the air to the opposite side of the rad, then get it out the rad.

This is how I bled my rad (btw I am not sure if all rads have the same flow method inside..)

Then repeat for each rad.

i cant get rid, ive tried what you have said and its moved but its not out, will leaving it over night help of will it stay trapped?

When you are running it are you running the water through. with the cap released off the res. The air needs some where to escape. some rads have extra fitting points on them and you can remove them if at the top to bleed the rads through.


I take it the res is fully topped up. You can remove the lid from the res and leave it overnight. you can do it that way when bleeding brakes as well. but you need to keep the res topped up in order to push the air out.

I have never heard of someone not being able to remove the air from the system it normally just comes out on its own. And the fact that the air bubble is not moving makes me think that something is restricting the flow through the system.

Maybe take some pics of your setup showing the different connections.

Also how is the pump being powerd. from a Molex or from a Motherboard fan header?

If it's the wrong side it will stay trapped. I had trouble trying to bleed my 9x140 external rad just like this, had a massive airlock.
Even using this technique didn't solve it for me 100%. In the end I took the rad into the bath and filled it up with coolant/bled it separate from my loop.

Edit: as above there may be a restriction somewhere. In my original loop it was caused by phobya QDC fittings which are worthless.

the res is topped up with cap off, i know there is no flow restricion because when i first filled it the water moved round everything fine but then this problem happens and then the water slows right down, it was fine until i added the new water block, the block is fine because ive watched water flow right through it.

Ive empted it and refilled it 3 times now and it keeps happening, its really doing my head in.

The pump is powered by molex, only my 120 rad on the back of the case has ports ports on the top and sides of the rad, ive tried opening the plugged ports with no luck, i dont want to leave them open over night incase it moves and fluid spills all over everything, i cant do anything with the 360 rad because its led flat on the top of my case.

Thanks for the help lads but ive decided to sack it off as a bad job, nothing is moving like it should so im going to completely rip my system apart tomoz and flush every part probably to make sure there isnt any blockages.

Seeing i have a single pump and and single res plus the xspc bay res/pump ive decided im going to duel loop my system, ive also got a spare 120 rad so im going use the 2 120s for my cpu and ram and use my 360 for my 580s, ive just ordered a bottle of green coolant for the cpu and blood red for the 580s so it should look smart with my led lights.

Ive not been happy with this mayhem coolant for a while now because the 2nd fluid seems to gather in certain places so it might be the cause of a blockage.

Mayhems aurora extinction green its called, i bought it cos it looked really good flowing on the vids i watched but after a day the glitter effect had vanished, i looked into it and learned that in bay res it settles at the bottom so i bought a new seperate pump and res and it still happened with most of the 2nd fluid collecting in my res and gpu block, no flow was restricted but it still annoyed me, anyway im gonna get it all out and use normal fluid.

The aurora fluid is only for show purposes. Recomended to use it for displays at a show or to grab some stunning photos of the system. Just use the Green Pastel colours that mayhem makes.

after ripping everything apart and cleaning everything out ive found that its a blockage in my cpu block, a collection of sludge has gathered inside the block, most of it being from the fluid, i would highly recommend never putting mayhems aroura fluid in your loop.
