It looks like EA is shooting at Steam's free weekend concept with their own Game Time promotion, which offers players up to 48 hours of free gaming.

To kick this off EA is allowing players to play Titanfall for free on PC this weekend.

So how does Game Time work?

EA are clear to point out that Game Time Titles are not demos but fully fledged titles, and once you download them you will have 48 hours to play it from when you first launch the game. This means that you can download the game during the weekend and start your 48 hours whenever you first launch it, which need not be that weekend.

From the first time you launch your Game Time title your timer will begin and you will have 48 hours to play, this is of course 48 hours of real time but that will definitely be enough time to assess the title for yourself.

So if you don't already own Titanfall, now is the time to have a go. If you already own Titanfall, enjoy killing off the new influx of newbies this weekend.

Coincidentally I wrote a review of Titanfall yesterday, which is located here, but if you are interested in this game you should definitely give it a try while its free.

What do you guys think of EA's Game Time program? It is certainly more convenient than Steams equivalent, allowing gamers to start their trial whenever they want. Will you be giving Titanfall a try this weekend? Please post below.

Won't the servers crumble like they did with BF3? When that game was made free the first weekend of the promotion EVERY server was full. Quite a few of the servers crashed as well and they're private rented.

Either way I might give this a go :).

but the 48 hours last from when you start playing, you could potentially wait a few days for the server load to drop.

Does anybody want to play a game of Titanfall. We could start a private party and play against each other to see who's better?

Tried it at the weekend, first launch the game crashed, second launch ran fine and played the training and one round online but upon the reaching the stats screen after the round it all froze up.
