Play Games Through...Streaming?

Interesting idea, will never be as fast as local gaming though, not until the networks catch up to it, most people in the UK aren't on anywhere near the speeds I can see that requiring.

Yeah from what I have seen...2mbps is required for standard definition (a lowly 800 * 600) and for HD (1280 * 720 (which is 720p not full HD really)) a minimum of 5mbps. As per usual though I really think these figures are the lowest end of the spectrum. For example if you live within 20ft of the hosting server and no one else is on, then maybe. Some of the closed beta testers I've talked to have said that lag exists for users in Australia using the US servers that are designed for the users in Australia....the compression method is interesting and will be worth a huge wad in the market, but using it for gaming may just be vaporware...ahh well time will tell....interesting...but graphene chips is where the focus should be attentioned....

5mbps, 50mb Virgin connection can't even handle that. This will be something to stop pirating and I actually +1 this movement. Wait another year or two before this kicks off. Will be big without a doubt.

10:1 contention ratio 50MB line should cope with it....but as all internet use is dependant on server load regardless of your actual connection speed I just cant see this beeing a winner for many years to come...especially when your looking at non high def pc gaming....if the subscription to this service is very very cheap (and I'm talking under £20 a month and thats excluding games)...then it may give some people an option...however when your venturing into the £350+ a year category most people would just spend that money on a physical upgrade...its food for thought...strategically placed it will be awesome....however the high up execs have a way in which to turn greatware to vaporware with a wave of there economic wand....especially when your talking about several companies already jumping on board...there are gonna be arguements and public floggings of the smaller companies whilst the giants (like EA) are flexing there muscles.....mmmmmm....so many options ... so many possibilities....being the cynical git I am I just can't see it working....too many variables, Internet Speed, Server Response, Game Development, Game Development Companies, Execs, Marketing, Customers actual experience, hardware maintenance on the server end...I could go on...but for all them to gel into one platform....more chance of hitler doing humanitarian aid work in ethiopia....

Again we shall see a great looking product wiped out due to the UK's failing to modernise its ancient systems fire BT and get someone in who will get some speed going.

On a side note I bet this will take off in japan with there 10gbps speeds.:(
