I have just built a new pc with a asus pk5-e wifi app motherboard i thought it was a good idea with the wifi being built on to the board, but i cant get it to connect to the inter using it . I use mac address filtering on my router and have added the mac address , and windows shows the network as status connected yet the Internet wont work .

I am using an MSI RG45GS router which as far as im aware should support the WiFi thats built onto the board?!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I've got the P5K-premium and the wifi is crap on it too. might seem silly, but have you fully updated all the drivers and everything from the asus website?

also what OS are you using?

Iv found getting the drivers a pain in the back side from there website! When i go into device manager i have one device with the little yellow warning sign next to it and the device is un known . Maybe that is the problem?

Im on XP SP3 :p

hmm. im using vista and i know that it has problems, never used sp3 myself. I dont really see why that unknown thing could be the problem. Is it under one of the main headings? or it it just under "Unknown"?

Direct link to newest bios (1013) for the P5K-E/WiFi-AP

could be worth updating the bios? people might argue against doing it, but its UNBELIEVABLY easy to do with the EZ flasher

you on 64bit xp?

and i assume your wifi should be the same as mine as ive got a asus wifi board too. check in device manager under network adapters what Realtek wifi adapter you have. Im guessing its the "Realtek RTL8187 Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 network adapter" :P If it is i can link you to the latest driver to that too.

Hope it helps

How do you go about flashing the bios ? Do you just copy it to a usb memory stick then go into the bios and open something?

Thanks

Yep stick the .rom onto a memory stick, go into the bios and open up EZ flash then open the dir with the .rom in and install it :)
