Photorealistic graphics may be possible with 40 TFLOPS of GPU performance

I'm still blown away by how much graphics have improved in the fifteen years I've been gaming. To look at titles that were groundbreaking upon their release and then to see them now remastered with the latest technologies is mind blowing. Try playing Tomb Raider on the PS1 and then Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC, the leap is enormous.

While photo-realistic graphics would be nice I think there's more to games than just graphics. It's great that manufacturer's are pushing towards this lofty goal but there's so much to improve from animation, physics, to simple good writing and engines capable of dealing with massive variations in player choice. So many games sacrifice branching narratives due to other requirements of the modern age, amazing graphics being one of them. I want to see graphics improve alongside everything else, and see the rebirth of truly dynamic storytelling.
