Phononic Solid-State CPU cooler gives massive performance in a small form factor

Soooo a peltier on a heatsink

I'm guessing it will be kinda expensive and not very efficient

I'd love to see this work.

However, i fear they will still struggle with the low efficiency of peltier elements causing at least a rather high overall power usage. Meaning the CPU might be cool, but the room not. It will likely be more warm than any other type of cooling.

Also, why are there no pictures of the unit to be placed in a PCIe slot? The size would likely be important to many.

I wonder if anyone has ever made a setup with a AC unit in front of case intake fans. Lowering the intake air seems to me as something that would benefit all components - especially if both CPU and GPU could be set to expel heat out of the case, instead of into it.

Even better : More efficient CPU's :-)

where is it putting the heat?

To put it into simple terms a Peltier is a heat pump, using electricity to move heat from one place to the other.

If used with a CPU cooler it can be used to lower the temperature of the CPU and heat up the side that is connected to the CPU cooler.

This means that the CPU cooler can get much hotter and dissipate more heat and that the CPU can get much cooler. Modders have used this technique for years, but it is very uncommon as peltiers can suck a lot of power.

It wont work,it doesnt have enough power for a OC'd chip, this is not new and has been tried before with fail results, nothing has changed tech wise to make me think this will be any different. As for being solid state, how is any different from a normal cooler with its 80mm fan?

Because its not.....

One last thing, the moment the threshold is reached, the TEC plate becomes an insulator......

Pretty sure a pelt needs water to run efficiently, and a bit of an ampage boost over most people's PSU's capabilities to boot, especially one in something small form factor. These things EAT amps

Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if it needs an external PSU.
