People who are sensitive should probably not read this...

Ok guys.

I'd like to think that I'm an ok guy. That I've done well by others, and guided people in the right directions when required. So, I would really like to know what I have done to deserve this year that I've had. Perhaps this post belongs in the fml page, but seriously, this is really messed up.

So far this year, the following has occurred to me, or my immediate family: Bells palsy, broken ankle, stroke, 2 serious virus attack (hospital required), my wife and I have miscarried twice (once just found out about today - merry Christmas...), and that is just the medical side.

You may think with all this, I have a big family; no. Just my wife, my mum, my sister and I.

I don't want to come off as a whinger, so I will leave it at that for now. And I'm not unrealistic enough to say that the year has been all bad, but the good has certainly been overwhelmed by the bad.

In the vernacular screw this year for a joke. It's not even funny.

Sorry, please return to your regularly scheduled forum.

Surfie I am sorry to hear what you have been through and I wish you and your family the best through all the tough times.

I'm not going to say that next year will be better, nobody knows that but I really do hope next year the good will really overwhelm the bad.

Sorry to hear of your troubles hopefully things will start to look up for you. May you have a Merry Christmas with your family and a better New Year.

I can't imagine going through all that in a single year. I'm really sorry to hear about the pain and suffering you've had to endure. Hopefully things will get better in the new year and you can put all the bad experiences behind you.

Life is hard, my friend. Sometimes you get beat up and you feel down. That's just life. I once heard a great speech by Eric Tomas. The main point was: Pain is temporary. Look it up on youtube, and it will make you feel a bit better. Sorry to hear your misfortune.

the night is darkest just before the dawn i guess.
chip up, that streak of bad luck has got to end some time.

Thanks for the support everyone. And yes, you are right, things will only get better.

Guess i'm just getting a bit bitter about it all, given the timing, on top of everything else... not much else to be done there than for me to just change my view on it I guess... :S

Sorry to hear you've had such a bad time of it. Having been through a couple of the things you've told us about, and still caring for my 2 young sisters and my mum following a serious stroke she had this year I can fully sympathise with you, and the time of year just seems to compound the issues.

When things are piling up and getting too much, I like to remember this film quote:
It can't rain all the time
Your run of luck will change and here's hoping you get a much better 2014.

Good luck with the new year mate. I wish you the best. Hope all your troubles sort themselves out and I'm sorry to hear all this.

Well, that does sound like a shit year for you as well then m8.
But i can tell you it will get better eventually as it did for me as well.
My story for 2013: got fired in august 2012, couldent get a job for over a year, had to deal with things like possibly selling my car, house and go live with my parents again.
On top of that i need a steady job to get my g.f from USA to come live with me, been working on that for 5 years now.
Was never going to happen with all of the above happening for legal reasons.
So: no car, no house, no job, moving in with my parents, no girlfriend to start a life with after year was what my future was looking like.

Then out of nowhere i got a job interview and i can start jan 1st 2014 for a 6 month period.
That little thing made all the shit listed above go away just like that <snaps fingers>.
So yeah apperantly we all have to be at the very bottom before we can crawl up again.
All i can say is hang in there and things will get better eventually.
