pci-e question

Hi, i'm using a P5GC-MX/1333 with a e6750 , It is currently being clocked at 2.1 , so i changed the fsb to 333 to get the full 2.66 but the pc will not boot when i change the pci-e freq to 100 or 101 from auto . I was wondering if i can just leave it at auto for now ? i have heard it is a good idea to lock it to 100 mhz but the pc simply will not start when i do , instead i get a message saying "overl**** or overvoltage failed etc" is it okay to just leave it on auto for such a mild o.c? - if it helps i'm using 2gb of generic 667 ddr2 ram.

P5GC-MX/1333 - I don`t know what creation of satan that is tbh.

In regards to the PCIe frequency, many mobos will assume AUTO to mean it`ll rize in some ratio to ur oc. Making it 100 and not AUTO is always a good idea.

Be sure it doesn`t say PCI frequency, cos that aint gonna be 100. That`ll be 66/67. 32 on really old mobos.

PCIe Freq ~ Useless

Normally, you won't be finding performance increasements by increasing the PCIe frequency. Trust me, i've raised mine from 100 to 150 on my P35 Platinum running a Volt modded Radeon 4850 & all I could find was the GFX card's temps increasing. Don't worry about the PCIe Freq... If it only works on Auto, then leave it on auto, it will only spare you a headache...

Differences in a higher PCIe frequency than 100 is only noticeable in benchmarks. At a certain point it will stop SATA and lan ports to not work.

I read up about this as I wandered if it would make any difference. Its only a slight difference, so the extra straint hat it puts on the mbo aint worth it :D

Hey!

I agree with others about changing pci to 100 is always good idea, cause you really dont wanna blow your graphic card or something else just cause of oc'ing processor.

You didnt mention that you have raised voltage of vcore i suggest you higher it up a bit.

And also keep in mind when you raise FSB it doesnt affect only processor frequency but also ram frequency. Because of that you need to higher ram voltage too.

Good luck with that

Best bet is to overclock each bit of your pc seperately. If its causing you a head ache to get this to go away
