Yay!! All the hard work out of the way now.. need to get a job now... So glad I joint the Zenos course in the first place..

Thought I'd share!

Oooooo nice one mate....

I'm actually doing the course for the 271 and 272 tests at the moment. Work have paid something like £1750 quid for it. They aint paying for the tests though, but I figured if I'm doing the course, I may as well get the MCDST out of it.

What mark did ya get and how many questions?

Was it easy?

The 272 exam for me, personally, was the hardest as it required you to remember certain nit picky things like the exact word for word instructions on how to change the way 'IE' deals with ActiveX controls. I had 40 questions on 272 with 90 minutes, I had 861/1000.

The 271 exam was much easier (even though I had a lower score.. if that makes any sense) and it basically requires you to remember permissions defaults and how printers react when being shared and windows xp installation things.. not to technical. I had 49 questions on 271 with 120 minutes, I had 833/1000.

If you want any of the PDF's with questiown from both priot exams Bungral, just drop me a PM.. they helped me immensly.

Yeah the trainer has said that some of the harder questions will be remembering default settings for things like IE security zones and what their default setting is.

What permissions defaults did you have to remember?

I know the tests vary but still, can't hurt knowing.

Probably think about taking them next week some time if the local test centre has spaces. Know most of what's been in the courses to be honest from my day to day work, but just need to remember all the commands and defaults like ya say.

Already got a job here at the Council though.. Think they were just sending us all on courses as they had a little bit of budget for it.. That's why they don't care if we do the tests or not.

Cool. Will drop you a PM now mate with links to PDF's.

Well, the default share and NTFS permissions on a folder/file share.. the default is Everyone - Read.. things like that.. they wrap simple questions in Microsoft bloat to pad it out somewhat.

Bloomer I am just starting the MCDST course, the college near me keep postponing it, but they are going to set it up for me online,

From someone who has done it, do you think online is a good way to go???

Can I also get the PDF's???

:)

You can do it online if you put the effort in Hayley.. I recommend doing some workshops if they are available.. learning the stuff is good, but you need the concepts behind things, so that's why physical workshops are really helpful.

I will PM you now for the PDF's.

Thanks

I have got the course books and lab manuals for both exams, is that what you mean by workshops?? go thru the lab manual?

Well, yeah I guess.. but I meant with a qualified trained. Using the Lab manuals will be sufficent though. Should be a doddle for you though (I've seen some of your posts/threads etc)
