Be interesting to see a side by side comparison of the two alongside the faster clocked GDDR5 1060 cards.

Looks like this is weak binned 1070/1080 dies & GDDR5X memory and the left over PCBs all in one package.

Presumably it's either got a lot of overclocking headroom or it's going to be priced pretty competitively(Or more likely a bit of both).

I see these going out as cheap as chips. GTX2060 due early next year, 590 anytime and like tgrech suggested I think this is Nvidia making something with the left overs, "Chefs special" card to get rid.
Unless you want the Asus model for an extra 25% lol.....
