Hello everyone ! I'm new to these boards :D

I have a question regarding video cards, I'm building a system in the coming weeks and ive got most of my stuff lined up (e8400, p35 Mobo, 4gb of 1066 ballistix ram, and antec 900 gaming case)

Now im jsut wondering if there is going to be a performance differance between these two cards, and if so wich would be the best.

What confuses me is this OC thing, is it better to have less memory but a little bit faster card ??

I dont want to pay more than 300$ for the card and dont plan on going SLI with the current generation of cards.

Thx for any heads up :P

Buy the cheapest one you can and stick a decent cooler on it, the 1024mb cards have basically no advantage due to the 256bit bus. The OC versions are a waste as well, you can do it yourself :)

Nothing is guaranteed though, my 'basic' model will do 750 on the core without the voltage mod whereas others with the OC versions can only do 720.

Although saying that I haven't seen one that won't do 700mhz on the core.

Well thx guys i'll look into that :P Ive never OCed anything so I dont know how comfy I am about it, seing as I want this system to last me a few years (mainly till I get bored with Age of Conan).

Thx for the heads up :P

yeah, and preoverclocked cards dont require ati tool or whatever to run when you start up to set the clocks... you can flash the card yourself but its risky.
