All outside internet connections to/from pakistan where severed when a power problem caused a fault with an undersea data cable that feeds pakistan its data

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Reuters) -- An undersea cable carrying data between Pakistan and the outside world has developed a serious fault, virtually crippling data feeds, including the Internet, telecommunications officials said. The system crashed late on Monday and was still down on Tuesday evening. Many offices across the country ground to a halt as people realized it was not one of Pakistan's regular, but usually brief, technical hitches.

"It's a worst-case scenario. We are literally blank," said a senior foreign banker who declined to be identified.

Why did they call Windows 'Windows'..? They should have called it 'Doors'.

any GUI (Graphical user Interface) is based on the WIMP rule (Windows , Icons , Menus & Pointers) so windows is called windows as it is a main components of a GUI

yes, but in the concetual stages of GUI's back @ xerox PARC there were some menus arranged in a hub .. not pulldown and some early GUIs had listed menus that you clicked on (kinda like a HTML page w/hyperlinks); that menu was in its own window or on the desktop but the moden concensuc is Pull-Down menus for their uncluttered usage and ease of use
