P5B-D - PC won't restart after bad overclock!

I had my w/c kit installed and everything working nicely, so I thought I'd have a little shot a OC'n.

I'd had my e6600 at 2.6 on air. I'd read some on OC'n and was only making small incremental increases.

First I tried 300*9 = 2.7 - fine.

Then 310*9 = 2.79 - fine.

Then 320*9 = 2.88 - fine.

I may have skipped 330*9 = 2.97 - and gone to 340*9 = 3.06 - it was at this point things went wrong around the 330/340.

The pc wouldn't start - no monitor signal/keyboard. This had hapened before so I was not too worried - just reset the CMOS and start again.

What do you do when a CMOS reset doesn't work? I'm worried now.

When I power up the monitor stays on the amber light as if the gfx card is not working, but the wireless receiver for keyboard/mouse is not lighting up either, or my linksys for my wireless network (both of these are connected to the usb at the back).

It's like the pci-e slot and the usb's have died. There are no error beeps at the start and as I have no monitor I cant actually tell what is happening!

Everything else seems to be on. I checked all connections, no loose connections.

Help!

When i get a bad overclock on my P5B all I have to do is take the power cord out of my PSU, wait for 1 minute and put it back in again.

Give that a try and see how it goes.

That didn't work mate; had the power cord out for ages last night trying to figure it out.. It seems like the usb's aren't giving any power/signal to the devices and the graphics card has died...

Got the day off work so I have time to try a few things.

I'll be back online in an hour - I'll try anthing about now...

Ham - I did that already!!

Try resetting CMOS the long way. Take battery out and power cord then leave for 1/2hour

Strip down to 1 stick of RAM and try again.

Try other RAM too

^ basically hat the other guys said but..

1. Remove power cable

2. Press power button to discharge remaining power

3. Remove BIOS battery

4. Short CMOS Jumper

5. Wait 1hr or so

6. Take out all RAM

7. Put BIOS battery back in

8. Put power back in and try booting up.

Hopefully the board willg ive you some beeps to say that no memory is installed. If it does, take the power out again put the memory back in and try starting up again.

The battery trick is usually what always works for me when nothing else does. I pop it out, go watch an hour of TV and then pop the battery back in and it's all set.

This didn't work! It beeped, put the ram in and same thing, no monitor or usb activity!

So you go too boot, the fans spin but thats it?

Pretty much - fans spin, I can hear the hd, the pump, er, pumps, but the monitor never comes to life, the keyboard is not detected or the wireless...

Sounds like you may have killed a component:( . Same thing happened with several Socket A systems that ive played with.

Thats what mine always does with a bad overclock, but i've always fixed it with a power off.

Do you have any spare components like ram/gpu ?

I'd place a bet that the mobo just chose that moment to die tho :(

WHAT!!! Like what? I know the cpu is ok as with no ram the pc beeps, meaning the cpu was detected... Or at least I hope it's ok...

Sh*t. Ah crap. Would the pc react like it is if the gfx card was dead? Why aren't the usb ports working?

EDIT: I had a selling/giving away of all spare comonents recently. How do I know if the mobo is dead?
