hello I have a azus p8c ws mobo with an i7 3770 cpu and im wanting to run 2 r9 280x vapor-x gpu's in crossfire in a newbie to overclocking and I realize that the gpus are oc'd already would you suggest I can go more safely or not to worry about it

Just start overclocking and take it slowly. Remember to watch your temps and dont let them go any higher than you are comfortable with. You wont hurt anything if you are careful.

that's the thing though I don't know even where to start lol sorry am really new at this not trying to be a pain just want some guidance

You could try and download MSI Afterburner. Start with core clocks, and raise the voltage as you need more power. Just look up a good guide on MSI Afterburner and you should be fine. ;)

ok so on msi after burner core clock is 1070mhz and mem clock is 1550 witch is stock power voltage is +0 so should I just adjust the MHz and clock and keep an eye on temp

Mate, you really need to do some reading up on how to use afterburner, what everything means, etc. Even watch some youtube videos. Never overclock if you dont know what you are doing ;)

that's why I though id ask the guys that are in the know like you guys lol but yeah thank you for the info I do appricate the help :)

I have an MSI 280x I managed to get the following overclock with ease:

Core: 1150
Mem: 1750 (7Ghz Effective)

Core voltage didn't seem to make any difference to stability, but increasing the memory voltage from 1.5v to 1.6v allowed me to acheive 1750 on the memory.

I know you have a different card, but it might help you :)

Most 280x's seem to cap out at around 1200 on the core ;)

ok thank you for the information

unless I just don't worry about overclocking because im going 2 r9 280 vapor-x's

Welcome :)

It's totally worth looking into, get all that performance you can for free and get the most out of performance to price ratio.

Overclocking is relatively safe these day's. It's safer than unlocking pipelines and flashing BIOSs back in the day.

As long as you do some research, stay within thermal threshold of the card and not exceed say, 1.25v on the Core and 1.60 - 1.65v on the memory you should be fine to explore :)

Just take it easy and you'll be fine :)

Also a little warning of what will happen when an OC fails. Your PC may lock up, your benchmark software may just stop(essentially locking up), your benchmark might get artifacts(things that are not supposed to appear, white dots fuzzing around or colored lines on screen), or just a closure in your current program with a driver failed error message from Windows. If any of that happens your OC is not stable and you should either raise voltage or lower clocks. Since this is your first time it may be smart to back everything up incase something really goes wrong.. very unlikely anything like that would but always nice to have a current backup anyway.

If you are in need of some GPU benchmarks you can always download free ones that are popular and reliable.
You can get this one free- https://unigine.com/products/valley/#editions
and this one as well- https://unigine.com/products/heaven/#editions

Both are made by Unigine and these two i linked above are pretty much the best you can get along with 3DMark(have to pay for that though).
