Overclocking max

How do you mean?
Has anyone ever reached it or anyone on here?

People have only got that far on specifically suited chips that are hand picked and sent to overclockers for world record attempts on LN2 or DICE.

It's unlikely that anyone on here would be one of the world's best to deserve such a golden chip for suicide runs

Yeh there's records that reach over 8ghz... but they could never be 24/7...

They need to keep being topped up with dry ice to keep the temps sub zero...

No one's gunna do that to their proper rig, they could never leave the room...

5ghz 24/7 isnt that difficult now if you win the silicone lottery. Ive done it on air in the past.

As for just buying kit and getting 7ghz just because you have LN2 youre deluded. Overclockers often have 10's if not 100's of CPU's they go through before getting the one that goes really high.

Depends on the cpu in more ways than one. Some cpu's will never reach 7Ghz no matter what you do with them. Other chips will almost always hit 7Ghz if you use LN2 on them. The FX-8150 is a good example of a chip that will almost always do 7Ghz under LN2.

that's not practical, i'm talking about a easy water or air build not ln2 or dice

You're talking over 8GHz, that is not practical. You will never be able to do than on air or water lol. Like Tom said, even with LN2 overclockers can go through hundreds of CPU's before they hit their dream OC

As for 5GHz you can do it fairly easily, but often you'd need to crank up the Vcore a bit too much to make it a definite 24/7 safe OC

Straight to the point: no.
Chances are you'll be kept to 4.5GHz +/- 0.2 GHz.
As everyone has said 100 times, it all depends on the chip YOU end up with.
