Overclocking i7-4770k on MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming

Hello, can someone help me to overclock my new rig?

I7-4770K
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming
Corsair RM750 Wat
DDR3 8GB 4 x 2 GB OCZ XTC Platinium

i run at 4300 Mhz stable without using any voltage settings. Just cpu ratio at 43x100. But when i change to 4400 Mhz it gets BSOD.

There is many settings on this MB with voltage settings but i don't know what to set.

You need to up vcore to get anything stable past your current clock

BIOS reset inc.

You should probably watch the video and read the tutorial TTL made on overclocking, it will answer all of your questions.
Also i am pretty certain that your magic 4.3GHz stock voltage OC is not stable. It may boot, but it's not 24/7 stable.
 
probably u have right. I was testing it @ 4,3 Ghz around 1 hour with Burn IN Test ane some with OCCT.

You hit the jackpot with that chip i'd say, 1hr stable on stock volts on 4.3GHz is pretty great.
 
Thank You guys for links and info. That i think will explain most of my question. But if anyone have the same pc build and have something to add about oc at msi z87-gd65 (UEFI Settings) fell free to write ;)

Ok, i done some testings:
@ 4.3 Ghz - all voltages and other settings default - stable with 1h OCCT
@ 4.4 Ghz - Voltage 1.3V, CPU PCIE PLL - set to SB PLL, Turbo OFF - 1h OCCT stable

i have Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU-Cooler so i don't need to worry about temps.

any voltage before 1.3V was BSOD. I thnik it is not god that 4.4 Ghz required 1.3 V. It is too much? it is bad score? i wonder if i can get more ~ around 4.5, 4.6 Ghz.

yeah 1.3v for 4.4 isn't that great.. are you sure your temps are ok? 4770k's at 1.3v can get pretty hot

well for me personally that would be too hot. i like to stay below 75

Ok guys, now we have another situation. When i used linpack in occt, situation is not that good as it looks before. Temps are to high and it's exit testing. I need to go back @ 4.3Ghz but at 1,20V i get errors. With auto voltage no errors but temps are 80C max. In OCCT AVX Capable Linpack should be checked?

I've the same problem as OP.

Same MOB & same CPU, can't get 4.5GHz even at 1.320 core voltage!

what is your current stable OC setting?
 
I know it's a different motherboard (Z87 XPower) but still MSI, I thought I'd give you something to compare with. I'm currently at 4.3GHz at 1.16V and slowly working my way up, while keeping the memory at 2400MHz.

Ignore the graphs on OCCT, the program is a bit flaky reporting stuff, hence why I've confirmed things with CPUZ and Open Hardware Monitor.

I don't use OC Genie but set everything manually. If I were you I'd reset your bios and follow Tom's guide, avoid using OC Genie. It's meant for quick and dirty overclocks and won't amount to much. Using it's settings as a starting point will be fruitless because you won't be aware of anything it's changed, and those changes may not be for the better. Also note that if anything becomes unstable it might not just be the core voltage that needs adjusting.

Do not use Auto Vcore with any AVX based testing. Your motherboard is going to set the Vcore REALLY high on Auto and you start taking up the multiplier. Right around the 44 multiplier the board will run more than 1.3V through your chip and AVX testing will take that up even further, if you continue with testing on Auto you're likely to see well over 1.4V on the Vcore with throttling temps. Key in a manual Vcore to have it set and not change at all during AXV testing. I had the same problems you're having when I OC'ed my i5. The chip was finicky at the best of times. Most everything you're going through, I went through. I had to settle for a mediocre clock with sort of high volts. The AVX testing shouldn't hurt as long as temps and voltage don't get out of control. My i5 wasn't OCCT stable but it was AIDA 64 stable and real worrld 24/7 stable. If you can't get itt to pass then try something else. I've also noticed just using any intense task is a good stability tester too. I've passed long runs on AIDA but failed real world use plenty of times with the i5 but with persistence, I found an acceptable stable OC.

Also if you do not know what a setting is... don't mess with it. Many new people who try OC'ing like to screw with everything (in my expierence) which never never helps.

I get 4.5Ghz @ 1.3V stable in any testing also on OCCT but with AVX it gest 85C. No BSOD at all. on Intel Extreme around 73C max. any benchmark 60-70C. Runing few games opening many application, everything stable. But OCCT with AVX is 85-> more C. Should i leave it as it is? 4.3 Ghz Working stable at 1.18V. 200 Mhz more is worth to keep 4.5Ghz at 1.3V with higher temps?
