The link to Reddit was extremely helpful in understanding the issues at hand. I appreciate that find! It is always nice to read an engineers report and perspective.
 
I'm sorry but a GPU eating 600w or more is just insane to me. Like just beyond insane.

I remember back when Fermi was rightly called out and shunned for using far too much power. It's just sickening to me to see a 600w GPU, let alone inadequate cables melting.

Why isn't the tech press calling this out? I find that even more disgusting . How has someone not said "OK this is BS and crazy"?

Tiny performance gains and guzzling power points to an awful shoddy product yet no one dares bad mouth Nvidia.

One thing I do know is that if AMD start with this sort of power use I'm out.
