i have a 7800 GS

Core 375 mhz

Ram 1.2ghz

in what steps should i overclock it , and should i keep a ratio between ram and core like 3: 1

thx

nope just take them as high as you can really, i would say do it in 5s and then when it artifacts go backwards in the lowest increments you can untill it stops artifacting, and then go back another increment for good luck

so i dont do any optimum settings , cause i did find optimum settings and they went quite high like 488 and 1343 mhz ram is it ok to do that? and by artifacts you mean bsods? or like lines all over the screen?

lines all over the screen or funny colours, just anything out of the ordinary really. what cooling have you got? those look about right but lower the memory before you try it to below 1.3 (also dont try OC much higher than stock without some decent cooling)

well then start from stock settings and go upward until your temps are about 60 in-game and then stop, wouldnt go any higher than that really until you have better cooling

whoa i think i have managed to do a succesful overclock from a embarrasing 2898 3dmark 06 i have now 3459 3d marks i think overclock succesfully and temps of 67c

The GS is apparently more overclockable than the GT; I could only get about 20MHz out of the GPU and not much more out of the mem. My load temps have always been about 81C, even at stock, so you would probably be alright pushing it into the mid 70's, assuming it stays stable...

yeah got 73 degrees in 3d mark 06 which i suppose stresses it out , and after new settings

499 core (highest to stay stable )

1358 mhz ram

i got a score of 3890 think its good enough

See if you can get an arctic cooling NV5 rev3. They are normaly cheap as chips and cool very well.

I'd recommend the arctic silencer for cooling it, fantastic and pretty cheap. Brought my load temps down by about 20C.
