Hi,

Ordered form Overclockers.co.uk my last PC and quite few parts over the years. This time i went for Evga 780 Classified. Got the box today, opened and … Radeon 280x was in it. Those things happen, phone overclockers and the person on the other side start laughing and transfer me to support team… Spoke to get guys at technical support and ask them If the right card can be send and at the delivery the 280x will be picked up, NO! I have been asked to send the 280x and after it will land at overclockers they will send me the product I have ordered, paid over £400 + cost of next day delivery… It is not my mistake so why is it now my problem, why do I have to wait another 5 days (?) to get what I have ordered ?

Had two options, deliver the card (280x) to local DPD branch (hard to do when you are at work), phone Overclockers with valid tracking number to confirm that it has been done and the 780 will be send to me (would have to pay extra to get it tomorrow) or the 280x will be picked up on Monday from my plus again I had to phone etc. First went with Monday option, but then phone overclockers to ask I can actually drop it today to local DPD Branch (my mate will do it for me) but the guy I spoke to said it will not change anything and technically I need to wait till the overclockers will get the card back anyway.

PS Sorry for my bad English.

Can't blame the guy on the phone for laughing, don't think he meant any harm by it, just kind of funny that the packaging game with the other brand in the box, although...don't the cards get delivered to retailers with security seals, so why had it been opened and a 280x been put in?

I can't blame them either for wanting the card back first, it's still a lot of money so they won't want to send out another card, you could just be tricking them and end up having two 780's in SLi. Still annoying for you though!

Crap happens unfortunately, they could have sent you the 780 and picked the 280 up at the same time.
Most retailers will get you to send things back to them before they send the right part or replacement though.

of course they won't send you another card straight away, you could just keep the 280x if they would do that.
also you ordered at overclockers.co.uk and you apologize for bad english? are you importing that stuff?

They can send me the card i have ordered and DPD guy can pick up the 280x at the same time.

Nah, because lets say you already had a 280x. What you could do is keep the 780 and put the 280x in the box to give to the dpd guy, basically netting you two 780s for less. Overclockers have to make sure they can't get scammed after all...

Exactly. Really annoying that it's happened but you just need to look at well within the next week I'll have the 780. OCUK won't like anybody else just send out another without receiving the original back.

Say you have already bought a 280x before, and then lie to OCUK saying they sent you 280x not the 780 when really you have the 780, they send you a new 780 and you have two in SLI. Think thats what he meant?

ooooh, but the guy from overclockers was aware of the fact that i have sapphire 280x - don't ask me how.

Me:
I revived 280x.....
Guy:
....sapphire ? don't know why...

Did you give him any sortof code of a sticker or anything? Don't know if they can type that in then and it brings up the product, which yeah will verify to them what you're saying. Otherwise how would you know the code to the 280x.

Don't get it.

Basically, you could get 2 780s for the price of 1 780 and a 280x if you wanted to scam them with the way you suggested they do the returns.

Lets say you already had the 280x and then when your new shiny 780 arrived you'd phone overclockers and say "there is a 280x in this 780 box, can I actually have a 780". when they send DPD man over to you to pick up the 280x you put the 280x in the box and he gives you another 780.

Some retailers do send out things and pick them up at the same time guys.
I know Scan, Ebuyer, Specialtech and Amazon do it, can't blame OCUK for being careful though.

This is nearly as bad as me sending my RROD 360 (Standard) to Micro$oft some years ago for repair, waited 7 days and I got someone elses 360 Elite in its place. I could have been a dick and kept it but how do I explain that in future if it RRODs again.

Sounds like bad customer service to me, Yes mistakes happen but forcing you to pay to deliver it back to them is a joke, Vote with your wallet, Don't buy from these a*** holes again.

Will they not refund the delivery charges?

I've ordered from OCUK a few times and for me they have been okay, I like how they chuck in some haribo as well, don't eat sweets but it's nice!

DPD collected the card (after speaking to stuff on OC forum) now and i didn't have to pay for it, spoke to Overclockers and they will let me know whats what on Monday-Tuesday.

Good to know, They should of gotten it right in the first place.

Its fine, mistakes happen but how you are dealing with them is another story.

Hope to get the card soon, AC4 is waiting to be played..
