Overclocked 8800GTS beats 8800GTX @ stock, great cards!

Well it looks like the Firing squad have been up to some no good again. They've taken an 8800GTS, overclocked it, and put it up against the 8800GTX @ stock speeds... The 8800GTS beats the GTX in just about everything slightly when overclocked. This is great news, as it's a great way to save $150 if you're looking to go G80 but get out the door as cheap as possible.

Have a look and see for yourself.

Haha, building mate, building. Work (and a build log and all other accompanying posts) will commence in a week or two if all goes to plan.

Back on topic:p

This is good news!

So do you know how much roughly the 8800GTS will be in the UK?? Also, do you think this card will be the lowest DX10 card, or willt hey bring out cards such as an 8600 or 8700?

I'm sure they will have lower serious G80's, and maybe some of the lower ones will be even better deals than the 8800GTS seems to be.

Sounds good to me! Here's to hoping that when Ati bring out their competition, the G80's will drop in price considerably :p

Yeah, gonna make a little trip to Fry's tomorrow and pick up an EVGA 8800GTS, then see how it fares in comparison to my 7900GT's in SLI... then oc it and see what I get.

Not that it matters, will grab a second next month:D Nice to know they oc well, and can perform as well as a stock GTX.

('Santa' can't get me the things I really want for Christmas, so each year I ask for garden gnomes and a pink flamingo for my apartments 'front yard'...)

Would it be safe to assume the "X" lettering, that used to refer to eXtreme, which meant `clocked`.

Soo.. a GTX would be a factory clocked GTS with more memory ?

Waiting with baited breathe for u`r results Tox & TJS :D (don`t spare the pix ;) )
