Over Moderation On Forums Getting Too Much

I travel to London at least 5 times a year, and have yet to have anyone address me as 'fella' I am not buying that English people call women fella. But there is really nothing here to discuss, I said my piece I got an apology, though it wasn't needed and we all move on.

As some of my English friends like to say this whole thing has gone a bit pear shaped.:o

But as to the topic of over moderation on forums, I think all mods are jerks, and I can say that being a mod on other sites.

Actually most (forum moderators) are great people, but some match the description I put forth in the first post and I have seen those around, I haven't met any of the mods here yet so I can't speak to the quality of them.
As for over moderation, it's kind of the opposite of over tolerance of flaws, it can be a bad thing if everyone accepts all types of behavior including those that are detrimental to society as a whole. It can be equally bad if no one is ever allowed to pose a dissenting view from the consensus, if we are all forced to speak with one voice, there is nothing to be said. Differing ideas are fodder for thought and looking at things in new ways, and can also be a good source of humor when someone says something so contrary to fact that it is laughable.

I said EU not just London which is one of 455 cities in the EU which is made up of 28 countries ;)

Another good phrase for it's gone pear shaped and my personal favourite is "It's gone tits up" ^_^

Believe me, nobody will try to shut you up for having a controversial opinion on here. Else i would've been gone ages ago.
Also there are loads of people on here whose first language isn't english, mistakes are bound to happen and calling a female 'fella' is one you shouldn't bother with. The way someone addresses you doesn't imply anything as long as there is no insult in it.

+1

That puts me in mind of yet another... 'no sh*t, Sherlock.'

lol
I also travel to many other countries around the world such as Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Hong Kong (city not country), Egypt, Australia, France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, and several others less frequently.

Never been called 'fella' in any of them, just for the record. Anyways, call me anything but don't call me late to supper.

That's probably because you talked to them face to face, so they knew you were a female. SuB didn't know, how was he supposed to know, we barely ever have females on this forum and your name doesn't really indicate what gender you have either.
I know you didn't take offence to that, but you mentioned it, so it's worth a discussion.

These forums wouldn't be the same without you dude :D

Wouldn't be the same with just one of the regulars missing. I am kind of honored to have taken the spot as the forum grumpy.

I believe this calls for a forum title change? In favor say Aye!

I was a mod on a handful of bodybuilding/powerlifting forums for several years. One day I just walked away from all of the nonsense. Compared to that mess, this place is awesome.
