Over Moderation On Forums Getting Too Much

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. I suppose the mods are people who, in real life , have no real power over their circumstances (like always having to do as they are told at work and at home) so the forums are the only way they can get their power fix. It's a way of feeling empowered to do as they like.

I'm sorry fella but you can shove that up your arse. Most of the mods here, no actually in-fact, all of them, were chosen, they didn't straight up ask for it. And none of them go on a power trip and certainly aren't looking for a fix.

We've had bad mods/admins here and they've all been and gone because they weren't right for it. Simple as that (Tom not withstanding *ducks*)

The fact of the matter is, it's an unpaid job in most respects. A lot of people fail to recognise that, while the gen-pop go to forums to digest the content, a mod has to check every post they cast their eye on to ensure it stays within the rules, it's not an easy job, it can make you hate something you used to love in a very short space of time, and some of the ungrateful sons-o-bitches on forums have no fucking right to have a go at them.

Many peoples from hundreds of different countries around the world died for the right of free speech not just America which by the way only houses 1.74% of the worlds total population

Also you have to remember this is a UK/EU based forum and fella can sometimes mean anyone i.e men and women a bit like guy/guys.

And don't take SuB too harshly, As he said being a mod is hard, Frustrating and unpaid, You have to put up with some serious first class "A" holes who go onto forums just to cause trouble.

You can have all the rights you want, in your own country. This is a UK/EU forum, and as such I'll defend our mods from anyone because you, quite frankly don't have any right what so ever, to have a go at them, especially when you start saying mods are on power trips with little no power over their own lives etc (I'm paraphrasing)

The fitness threads are the worse. Joined the main one years ago and left within days, didn't put one post up but a guy puts a pic of himself up proud of his accomplishment and actually looks good but a bigger guy comes along "You look fucking shit".

There is no need for that, and your never going to get anywhere competitive if thats your attitude, so you'll have all that muscle and nowhere to show it off and use it in a sport.

All jokes aside I'm so glad that I joined these forums all those years ago, there hasn't been any other place where I've kept coming back to. It's something to do with the frankness of TTL and the choice of mods along with a certain culture amongst the regular forum members which on the whole keeps us honest and I think attracts a certain type of person.

I've seen some idiots on here too but they seem to take a hammering from everyone and don't stay too long. People on here seem more commonly able to accept they've made a mistake and can take advice which is perhaps more rare given a subject matter which is prone to keyboard warriors. Lots of knowledgeable peeps willing to help each other is what I see and you hopefully don't need to over moderate that.

We are really lucky here in the fact that OC3D is basically our second home and all the members Mods included are like a part of our family and I think because of this fact over moderation for the most part doesn't need to happen, except when an A-hole decides to cause issues and then they don't stick around for long as everyone hammers them.
The Mods here are great in the fact that if you make a mistake they will point it out AND then show you how to correct the issue rather than saying something nasty then leave you to figure it all out for yourself, so yeah we are really lucky here it's all a part of what makes this forum the greatest.

I haven't been on any other forums really because i usually see the kind of trash people talk on them, also they are usually really poorly made. I hate those reddit clones, it's not functional.
I really like how the forum works at the moment, everything is compact and in its right place. I hope the upcoming makeover won't destroy the functionality, but SuB probably knows what makes this forum better than others.
Just look ath the LTT forums, they are so poorly made. 16:9 forums are fucking awful.

As an American myself you are the typical ones people bash the US for. Its shameful and embarrassing to be honest. You bring up the "we have rights" deal on a "foreign" forum. It is indeed silly. Though I will be the first person to say most people think their shit don't stink and they can do whatever you want.. hell people in high school are like that. Little do they know they have next to no rights until 18 years of age... comical lol
Though I don't think your last sentence was called for.. it sort of comes off as your making fun of our ideals of which many people have died for to keep true. Its kind of rude but I do know your a good person so I don't take offence to it. Others such as bigblue may though. Lets just keep our nationalism to ourselves and avoid a forum outbreak..


Anyway i love the mods here. All good people. It is tedious work and dealing with all those late night spammers are freaken annoying. Kudos to the mod team!

I didn't mean to make fun in my post, I just think America needs to remember that they aren't the only ones who fought and lost lives in war. I love how patriotic America is and supporting of their troops, how flags are hung everywhere. I wish England was the same but I disagree with like you said coming to a foreign forum and putting your American rights across.

I see nothing here offensive to anyone especially to me, I will fight for everyone's right to express an opinion no matter whether I agree or disagree with it. I just didn't like being called a fella and thought that was presumptuous and possibly sexist of the person.
As I said, I have no hard feelings to anyone and there is no reason they should resent my personal opinion when I state it.
