Not played it but heard the old Operation Flashpoint wasn't very good.

Check out some reviews of it

PC Gamer says it's a bit crap. http://www.pcgamer.c...river-review-2/

Too restrictive to appeal to ArmA fans, too ragged for CoD people, Red River is a needless addition to a crowded sector.

If you want a proper modern version of Operation Flashpoint give ArmA:2 a look. The CodeMaster OFP is a console game not best suited to PC and it's way too restrictive and dumbed down.

ArmA:2 is the civilian version of the infantry combat simulator used by the MoD and USMC for troop training. From a Overclocking and performance point of view this game is the toughest game I have ever seen on PC hardware. I have still not not heard of anyone maxing the settings out on this game. Mind you given some of the guys here with the kit they run I'm sure that someone here can max this game! That might be for a different thread....

I love arma2 i have it maxed out but don't even think about AA or that fancy 3D percentage option.

Arma2 is not a game for everyone nor do you get it for its single player campaign, the campaign is just there to see what you can do in the editor and then you left to you own work so if you like editing then this is for you.

Ever since Bohemia interactive stopped doing the dragon raising it went downhill.

After buying OFDR and it's total lack of support I wouldn't recommend buying anything to do with flashpoint period, it was a total BS waste of money!

If you want something like COD dont but this game its completely different.

I just bought OPRR and im enjoying it ONE BIG PROBLEM with the game, you travel to where you start fighting in pretty much real time at the begginig of each mission

part from that im ejoying it so far

I'm really enjoying this game. It's a nice break from the BS on COD and it's really fun to play co-op

Graphics are nice and the game mechanics are enjoyable

If you don't mind the price I would recommend it.

Hmm, i didnt like OFDR atall, it was a frustating mess in even in co-op with mates. so its had its chance with me, so I'll be letting this one go

I played operation flashpoint and quite enjoyed it but it was just to damned hard.

I have to say though im really enjoying red river its pretty immersive because its so realistic.

Today i was playing it and i started ducking when tracer started coming over my head

One bad point is that the friendly AI are pretty terrible at CQB

Graphics are nice. Just as good as most games that are out. Allthough i think they went a bit overboared with the sun glares.

Game plays well. Can be annoying sitting in a humvee for a few miniutes at the start of each mission. But the missions are great. And the banter between the AI keeps you amused when you are on the Humvee's.

Its a worth wile game to buy. I havent tried multiplayer yet. But I loved playing the original version.

! thing that lets it down for me is the lack of drivable/flyable vehicles. The original flashpoint preety much everything in the game could be driven or piloted. And in this game their are 2 different sorts of humvees to drive and that it.
