Only just realised how good my FX-57 is

Just read this and apparently OPB thinks that 0516wpmw is a goodun. Just checked and that's what I've got. Fantastic :D. Looking forward even more to getting my cascades now. Anyone else got an 0516wpmw?

Yeah looks like you got a good un there mate, especially as most people with 57's struggle to get more than what I achieve with me 55 with the cooling we got - so looking good for the cascade mate.

I think a slightly more correct term would be making his cascade, just how good is that g skill ram tho? ive heard it basically lmakes hte best ocz tccd stuff look like urinal cakes, is that true?

notice you say cascadeS

or is that a error

Not a mistake my friend - thought since the petrol crisis is making shipping from the US a whopping $500 (for 100lbs of cascades) I might as well do a bulk buy and get an SLi one too. You may have guessed by the fact I'm getting them from the US that I'm getting them off pc ice. He'll take a month to build them and then I'll have to wait a week for shipping so maybe I should call the SLi one a crossfire cascade.

I though he would have got fatty to make him one.

I did ask fatty first but he's a bit inexperienced when compared with pc ice. He's only built one and even that was r507/r507 so I might be waiting even longer if I waited for him to build a good one (perfectionist).

If you're referring to the pc4800ff that OPB uses then yes it is very good but he does get the cream of the crop as he works for g.skill ;).

I no longer have the ocz stuff - I sold it to Mav and moved over to BH-5. I really should update my sig.

When are you getting a casecade?

Was that a deliberate typo?

Pc ice does make some in cases rather than on boards but he charges an extra $200 for the custom aluminium case so I just went for 2 on boards.

is BH-5 betterthan TCCD then, i know there are opionons on it, i had some corsiar xms 3500 stuff which i belive was BH5 but that blew up, and i held my college directly responsible as it was the pc they supplied me it blew up in, the psu wont pop and it killed it, i was furious as that stuff clocked much better t han the stuff i have atm.

Bad luck mate.

I've got some nice clocking 2x256mb BH-5 for sale in the classifieds.

BH-5 seems to be far better in 01 and 03 and in superpi etc. although I think the extra bandwidth of TCCD helps in 05 as I got my old record with my TCCD and then upgraded to BH-5 and only beat it because of voltmods and fatty's chiller. The BH-5 scored about 15830 and my TCCD best was 15871 so there's not much in it. Although Shamino and OPB use TCCD and they're some of the best in the world. Then again the rest of the best in the world use BH-5.

The BH5/TCCD war continues. It has to be said that old BH5 is better than new BH5.

IMHO there's not much between it but I prefer BH5, the reason behind that is that my CPU does not run above 295 HTT/FSB - for TCCD to have a clear advantage against BH5 it needs 300+ to compete.

If you are on air or water - TCCD is a better proposition as the high HTT allows you to reach the systems max potential with high bandwidth.

You are unlikely to reach the full potential of BH5 with water as you will need to use your top multiplier and achieve 270+ - at which point your cooling will limit your success.

It's easier to drop the multiplier and increase the bandwidth. Gollums right TCCD/TCC5 performs better in 05 with 7800's this is partly down to the CPU limits and the extra bandwidth helps relieve the bottleneck created - not sure if it has the same effect with 6800's though. The othere two 3dmarks have tests whoch do not rely so much on the graphics and hence lower latencies of BH5 really make a difference.

Also BH5 requres 3.4 - 3.7v to achieve it's goodness - not all board suppport that and a DDR booster is not compatable with everything.

The PC5000 by OCZ has been discontinued - but I can tell you this - the stuff passes memtest at 323HTT 3-3-4-7 probs higher but as my cpu wont go above 295 I gave up.

Can you fit on of PC ices, cascades into one of those mountin mods cases with the PC?

I guess that wouldnt be ideal for benchmarkers though.

It has to be said that old BH5 is better than new BH5.

They should be the same now, Winbound moved back to the orginal die designs rather than the tweak ones. The tweaked ones didnt clock so well.
