Heres the scenario I love my Nvidia gpu and dont really want to change it. BUT seems Nvidia has issue with display ports on their cards and the enemy errr I mean AMD doesnt. I'm currently running older drivers to make it work (well til today but thats another story) But AMD is known for buggy drivers so that has me a tad worried. Anywho whats the comparable card to my GTX570HD. I'll end up running a dedicated physic card along side it but as I havent really kept up with AMD I have no bleepin clue. i know the 7xxx series are good But I'll be on a budget for now. This is basically all because I now have a 120MHz monitor and HDMI doesnt support 120MHz just 60MHz. My other option which i dont want to do lol is sell my 120 and keep running my 26 inch and forgo it lol.

Please no laughing this was hard enough to post

ahahahhahahahahha .... just kidding m8 !

i know where u come from , i had the same issue myself more or less

i had as u may know recently build my pc but getting all the parts diden't seem quite that easy

my original build featured a dvd writer but after much tought id rather wanted a blu ray writer and wrote the store to change it .

got a message back saying the order was complete and ready for pick up , went to get it and after the guy unloaded a few boxes he said ... oh yeh ur vid card ain't here yet .....

frustrated and a bit angry i took the remaining parts and left

, i tried this kind store in holland to get the nvidia card i wanted cause i always had nvidia ( talking about the 590 gtx btw ) .

the store in holland could get it but it would have costed me 800 euro's , sorry but i ain't paying 800 euro's for a card their not building anymore

in a spure of a moment i bought the 580 asus mars card but kinda regretted it , on the drive their i realised their was this new 7970 on the market , luckily the kind store allowed me to trade it in .

having always been an nvidia guy it was difficult going back to ati , but well getting a card that was the same price as he marts and 300 euro's cheaper then the 590 it was a dead end choice

the driver issue's worried me to but to compensate for that fear a lil i chose the asus one

its working pristine atmo ( hand on heart )

i hope this somehow helped u

I think the 7950 and the 7870 is very nice. Prizes should drop really soon also. Dunno what your budget is? If i were going to update right now i would get 2x 7870

want to try and stay under 300$$ USD a tad more if I sell my 570 guess I should put some feelers out.

You could get a 7950 then:)

The oc potential for these cards are the best ive seen on any gpu. If you oc you reach the performance of the 7970 or even a tadd more.

7950's around here are 450ish mate I'm in the US thats dollars
smile.gif
just listed my GTX570 with wb for 325$ lets see how it goes if I get that i can up my budget a bit

Oww i thought it was in pounds currency. I think you probably can sell that card fast with that prize. The cheapest 570 here in Norway cost around 445usd. If your lucky the prizes have fallen when you got it sorted :-)

actually been looking at some 6970's and 6950's one guy has a 6970 with fcwb for 325 and another has a lightning 6970 for 290. then theres the tempting one of a 7970 for 400 shipped gigabyte version.

Not a bad idea to get two 6970. How mutch would you need to pay for a 7870? It beats the 6970 and have better oc possibilities. Take a peek at this 7870 oc

newegg is down atm

cant compare anymore prices lol plus is almost 5am should get a lil shut eye.plus I'm looking at single card solution so I can run a 260GTX for physics. I only have 2 pci-e slots
sad.gif
and neither is 3.0 but I understand it'll work at 2.0 if i go 7xxx series.

6970 is pretty close to 570 performance-wise. and its probably really cheap right now. Also i doubt you have a 120MHz monitor xD would be 120'000'000 Hz

Lol, but on a serious note, the 7870 would be a good choice, just under 580 performance and can over clock just past it. The 7950 would be the better choice though.

I'll look at 7870's as well but Newegg currently doesnt have them and a few reviews I have read on them said they werent totally stable yet. I know there not being released til the 19th here so I'll have to Keeley an eye out.

Man i feel for you
tongue.gif
I agree with SieB about the 7870
smile.gif

cool

pm'd the guy with the 7970 to see why he's selling it so cheap. all his add says is 7970 Gigabyte branded but he has like 520 Heat rating so I dont think he's a scammer lol just passin it on cheap. And of the current offerings version wise the 7970 is king SOOOOOOOOO if I can strike a deal i may get that with my XFX Black Edition 260 for physics.
