off topic chat

out of curiosity, can someone point me to the rules of this sub-forum? i just asked a question about how people generally sell serial keys and the thread got deleted without any warning. my game codes are the ones you get free with amd 79xx series cards, and obviously haven't been used. it's only illegal to sell on used games (even the t&c on the codes don't disallow selling), and the off topic forum permits any kind of discussion afaik? just like to know if i broke rules; some kind of explanation would be very appreciated.

thanks

edit: again, really not making a complaint. if i did something against rules then ok. but it would be nice to know what rules i infringed so it doesn't happen again

They'd need to be posted properly in the for sales and wanted forum. You even have access to it now you have 100 posts.

Cant see a reason as to why you arent allowed to sell them

thanks for the reply.

it wasn't specifically a thread about selling items actually, it was a question - i asked how people normally sell game serial codes online since it hinges on mutual trust. the seller could lie and sell a used code, or the buyer could lie and pretend the code has been used already. my question was whether sellers make accounts for the buyers and then sell the accounts, or use some other method of ensuring safety for both buyer and seller? and then my thread mysteriously disappeared :p

Errr, not too sure why then. Maybe a mod misunderstood it, I dunno.

Anyway, for something like that, to ensure the trust issues - you'd generally go through a medium such as ebay where they can control things like that...also maybe a reason why the thread was deleted. The FS&W forum does heavily revolve around trust hence the 100 post and minimum time requirements. Could always PM a mod to ask for sure. Payment through paypal can ensure the money is returned for certain reasons to the buyer, but agreed it is unfair on the seller if malpractice occurs. Lets say you were to sell all 3 of the games though, then if 1 person complained about the game being pre-activated then the other 2 I suppose could back up. Still a risk I suppose. Emailing steam may divulge who the game is linked to but I'm unsure if they'd be prepared to do that. I dont know anyway. Always just best to PM a mod if you're unsure about things like this, especially in the FS&W forum
