OCZ To Drop DRAM Production

They're not completely stopping DRAM production, just some of the lower-margin earners. It's not clear exactly which products are being discontinued at this point. I would imagine it's mainly stuff like value RAM and the like. Suppose we can't be sure yet though.

Maybe you can predict the future Tom?

Naa I predicted them going bust.

Yeah it was pretty hard not to see really. They started pushing SSD in a BIG way and let everything else drop off.

Might as well add to the list....

Keyboards

Mice

Laptops

PSU's

Brain input devices

Shame they let the one thing that made their name in the industry drop off though. Some of their early memory kits deserve a place in the hall of fame. I did once say "wtf are you doing" when they started bringing out all kinds of crap, but hence they didn't listen

It's a shame, but RAM production is cut-throat I guess. In a way, I hope their PSU manufacturing business decreases too, they make some poor units. As a brand though, I still like them and their SSDs and support are pretty good in my experience actually.

arnt some of there PSU's good?

Thats the main issue for me. They have such a mixed bag of PSU's its not like you can say "get an OCZ" or even a specific model name. They have used so many OEM's over the years, it's hard to keep track of who made what and whether it was any good.

Then they went and bought PCP&C just as the market for hard-wired PSU's was on a massive decline

Ah, I hope not completely...OCZ offer some great overclocking kits and not to mention their forums has quite a lot of OC support/guides/tips.

But guess that is the issue as well, a lot of great memory manufacturers out there and PSUs...whereas you only got AMD and Intel holding most of the market share for CPUs and ATI(AMD) + Nvidia holding most of the GPU market share.

All the latest ram has been pants tbh. Im hearing ram is no more with OCZ, only ltd eddition out sourced production.

Basically meaning its over. Just SSD's and the odd PSU now.
