OC3D Review: OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler

Nice, it was reviewed in my mag as well, it seems they just need to get a better fan for it and it would be a whole heap better. Nice review, wish i could get temps like that from my quad, what where the ambients?

Best 2 things I think are the price and how competitive it is with the Noctua.

I`ve seen this cooler b4 and what scared me away was it`s base. Didn`t make me think it was to be that efficient and looked.. well .. incomplete.

Obviously a bad assumption.

When I looked at the 1st graph (stock clocked) I thought, it's not even much cooler than the intel cooler :eh:... - But then I saw the clocked temps and it shows why an aftermarket cooler is so important :o

I'm not too fussed if you can't get the Db rating as it doesn't mean that much to me anyway :p. If someone says it's 'very loud', 'loud' or whatever I'll take their word for it!

Just out of curiosity, if people were to buy a different fan, what 1 would you get? Also, is it possible that a lot of noise is coming from the air traveling through the heatsink itself as "dimples in every fin increase surface area and turbulance"?
 
I'd get a Noctua or something similar. The fan on there isn't quiet at all and it's not really air turbulance making the annoying noise, it's the fan itself
 
This is almost the same price as the arctic freezer 7... Is it better? My mate could use this on his budget build...
