OC3D lets compared our internet connections

im happy with that :)

This is not the best result that I have had, but my best result was made to look better than it really was because of the Kaspersky effect where the AV buffers downloaded content to scan it and then dumps it straight into memory making a 38mbps connection look like a 52mbps connection.

This is my normal result:

This is with Kaspersky running:

so i just did a fresh install of win 7 on my computer, and happened to notice some intresting speed increases today! not sure if my internet is actualy faster now, or if its just this time in the morning.....but its gone up a fair bit!

i know a lot of people on here have fast connection, but considering only 3 months ago i had 2.5mb, it is rather mind blowing downloading a steam game faster than i can boil the kettle and make a brew!!

however, seems to be acting strange atm.

it took a few tests to get it with no packet loss. the 1st test i did had a 4% packet loss, this is not the 1st time i have seen this tho. what are the chances it in the onboard lan? ir is it a problem with my line? plussnet have tested the line and have found no faults, but this seems to randomly happen

BT mas here is 11.

I had 20/4 with the local cable place before. They are rolling out 50/5 for residential soon but Im hoping to be on 100/20 by the new year (I am being raped for a business line though)

afaik Im the only person over here on 50/10

I can show my up/ dwn because I'm on holiday and in fibre optic in a hotel I envy the Swiss but my Internet is in a worse state than any of you but if all connections are off the best ever up I've had is 0.12 and down 1.6 this is gets down to .1 if I'm on wifi and it's peak times and other people in the house are on wifi. The worst bit is I'm stuck to kcom a monopoly in my area with the only other alternative is a long range glorified wifi and I pay £30 a month for 75gb and synthetic tests some reason multiply the speeds loads I pay for i pay for up to 27 m/sec wich is clearly bs

Yay! I'm 10th by download and 5th by upload speeds :) I know that the closeness of the server plays a huge role but when I downloaded Battlefield 3 I was constantly at a speed of 12+ MB/s (yes, megabytes). I'm not sure of where the closest server for that game is but it surely showed the full capability of my 100 Mb/s internet. It's strange how I used to constantly get 90+ Mb/s at speedtest.net when I first moved here a year ago. Whether it's the ethernet cable itself that's worse (I've changed it for a longer one) or it's just the network that has become more busy.
