OC3D Is looking to expand its news team!

EDIT: (Posted by Jim):

Right a BIG BUMP for a news team leader as it would appear our existing news poster has gone AWOL and has therefore been sacked.

As our news poster you will receive £100 a month salary. In return you are expected to:

1. Produce a minimum of 3 news posts a day. One of which before 11AM.

These news posts should be sourced from both your own searching of the internet, direct contact with manufacturers and keeping an eye on our news@overclock3d.net mailbox for interesting press releases.

2. Post any links to partner reviews.

These are links sent to us by partner review websites around the world. When they publish a new review they send us an email and we simply link to it on Overclock3D. The process is very simple and only takes a matter of seconds per item.

3. Be available for breaking news

Often manufacturers will come to us first with some news. You ideally need to be available (via MSN preferably) at most times during the day to post an exclusive article.

Literacy, knowledge and attention to detail are a must and you will be given training on the system before being thrown in the deep end :)

You can start when ever you like dude. As long as from the next day its 3 a day and 1 before 11am, thats the requirements for the job so thats also what we are asking for the trial.

Then who ever is successful will be shown how to post real articles!

i'll be well up for it seen as though its the 10 week holiday for me and i wake up at 9am every morning and im always upto date on my tech news i think :p

Wait, would that mean writing 42 articles for the trail? That seems like alot :p I might apply if I cannot find another job.

basically the trial is to see who can and cant do 3 a day every day. You have to do it for the real job and this way it weeds out the serious contenders.

im just wodnering thou, is there 3 pieces of news on tech every day? i some times see hexus news go dry for a day or 2.....

Yeah u can get loads of tech/computer/gadget related newsy things. 3 things a day really isn't that much.

I'd love to do it myself, but wouldn't be able to commit to anything solid timing wize.

Wouldn't mind if it was a weekend or evening gig :p

Can be tweaked to work around people Rasta, articles can be placed in the evening and 1 ready for the next morning for one of the other team to live.

And theres LOADS of news if you cba to look for it :p

Just an off-the-cuff idea here that might be crap/might need polishing....

But how about if we opened the ability to create news articles to any forum member with over 100 posts.

Any items written would be checked by us for suitability, and should your article be chosen to go live you would be paid £x for it.

The system would keep a running total of your Bank of OC3D balance, and at the end of the month you'd get a pay out?

This one. :D

Hmm, I don't know.

You'd still have to check them, might as well write them yourselves.

There is going to be like 100000 people joining and spamming to 100 and posting crap news to get money, Same with reviewers, free hardware!!!11

After talking it over with Tom, there's some additional points I'd like to add just so everyone knows what they could _pottentially_ be agreeing to:

- Only one article (the best/quickest to post) for each news story will be selected. The rest will be rejected with a brief reason (already submitted).

- If your article is unique, yet not up to OC3D standards it will be rejected with a brief description of why. You could then either fix the problem or delete the article.

- Not all articles will be posted. We will pace ourselves on what articles are put on the site. Some may be saved for the the next day if they are not time sensitive, others will be deleted. We'd rather not go bankrupt by posting 100 articles a day for a month :p

Scale

Writers - Paid Amount

Prof Reader - Paid Amount

Publisher - Paid Amount.

That way the item is confirmed by 2 people before publishing. call it quality control.

Strict lay out for articles and strict guideline..

All so think payment idea is not so good maybe hardware would be better.

Me personally more of a reader then any thing else.

Is there a way u could massage into this a semi-casual news section, where granted members can drop in newsy threads - to the extent that if it's thought of as a bigger impact story the dedicated news guyz can broaden them in the legitimate area ?

Ofc when it's carried forward a better write-up is made.

we did look at a members 'hot news' section where you guys post what you think would make good news then the news boys write it up. But what ever happens we still need a newsy that can write its all up and not leave it bare for days on end.

We havnt had any emails from anyone, but the site NEEDS news to keep it fresh. We are just trying to come up with ideas on how to do it.

We cant go training some one to do it every month on how to use the forum software to post the news as we have been, just takes too much time.

Neither me or Jim have the time to do the news, or manage it so it gets updated as we need it to be.

Thats why in an ideal world we really need some one to take charge and get on with it.
