OC3D is Hiring!

Good luck guys, I'm looking forward to reading more news/preview/review articles from community members!

I think it's really cool that you're looking to potentially hire an OC3D member, Tom.

So when it comes to news, are we talking Press releases, insider contacts, convention reporting (Facts) or any news like leaks, whispers and hearsay? I tend to avoid leaks now until I get at least a little proof to back it up, while rumours I find to be great for engaging the community it also attracts Trolls and arguments.

Press releases, rumors, leaks and any story currently floating around the net. Can be hardware gaming or anything you think is worthy of reporting on.

But when it comes to copy/paste press releases I'd expect some of your own opinions on it at the end.

Hey Tom are you only looking for UK based writers? (due to shipping costs)

If not I have a ton of spare time. I pretty much spend 2-3 hours a day reading tech news. I've been modding/building PC's for almost 10 years. I own a Canon 650D and love writing reviews/previews of gear. I had only done it on a local AU forum previously when something peaked my interest enough to share my thoughts on it. Sadly that forum & it's community died when the magazine publication stopped. I never really found an outlet for it any more. I have a background in screen and media production (graduate diploma). Where I specialized in editing, visual FX & script writing for web/mini series shows.

Now this perfect opportunity has come up this seems a great time to get back into it. :)

I'm not providing you with this info in the hopes to impress, more to get an understanding of what type of person you are after. And I'm guessing this position would require someone with a good knowledge of not only the tech industry, but someone who is a real tech geek, loves writing about it and has a background in professional content creation.

If what you are seeking is a dedicated team member, I guess I better start doing some member reviews. You already have some great members doing it, I'm not sure how many are interested in the position seriously.

I've read the post about the job and it sounds like a great opportunity for anyone who is like myself. I'll post up a couple of reviews see what you & the community thinks.

*note anyone who goes the to member reviews now you will only see a badly done 970 review. ignore that, its old and was done early hours of the morning here and was not meant to be a good review only my quick and dirty thoughts on my new card. So please ignore that haha, I'll have some proper reviews up within the next day or so.

Sadly that means I could never send you stuff then matey - I need writers.

yeah i understand matey :( , believe it or not I do have the luxury of having family members who are very good at writing (I swear they stole all my grammar skill at birth)
that are more then happy to help me with the writing and grammar

I just like helping people, I do the gardening for people who don't have time or are ill or just too old to do it themselves.

one of my sayings in life is "you don't need a reason to help someone"

So as usual then ;)

Is Greece considered eligible?
If I post just a review in Member Reviews from a current computer component I own, do I automatically participate in applying for this job? If not, what else do I have to do?
And lastly, what if you send me a mobo that I can't test cause I don't have a processor for it or so?

What countries can Overclock3d employees reside in?

What is the pay scale Overclock3d uses? Per review? Per week? Per word? Per hour? Pro Bono?

What is the expected review workload?

If I find myself with some hardware lying around and some means of testing it then I will write up a review, I usually have something on the shelf. ;)

Just a short comment to many of those who are interested in the position in here. I'm seeing alot of you state you would like the job of writing reviews, but immediately throw out a negative point about yourselves that you are not very good at writing.

Don't think that helps Tom choose a person. You should stay positive and give it a go. When you write about something you enjoy, often the enthusiasm and enjoyment helps create some fantastic pieces of art/projects/reviews etc.

Worst that can happen is you get a polite "sorry but you didnt get the position" response. I'm quite impressed with the OC3D community that there is rarely any outright abusive/offensive comments to a post. So just give it your best shot and who knows. :)

p.s. I might write a few for some dremel tools I picked up for those who might have been interested, including the "cute little motosaw" as someone posted on here once.

I would be interested. UK based, worked at OCUK, reviewed plenty of hardware before. More of a networking specialist if I'm being honest.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18518899 The images are large because the hosting company decided to put them back to original size.

I have been #1 on few benchmarks (various forums) and catzilla.

Please read the article about what you need to do then. Youve pretty much faceplanted at the first hurdle ;) - this thread isnt the way to apply. FYI the link to the 'review' youve put in no where near enough detail IMHO. Id expect more than that from a product you hadnt even had in hand let alone tested tbf.

I would like to know what detail is missing on a router? When most of what people want to know about a router is covered and TP-link where happy with it and offered me more routers to review - but I was busy with work at the time.

I think the histroy between us is tainted so I'm out. Good luck.

History? I have no idea who you are dude. But if you cant take constructive criticism then I guess its for the best. TP Link may well have been happy but if I was paying you it wouldnt be enough for me. That review was very basic tbf and not professional quality at all. Im not having a pop just giving my thoughts. I wouldnt publish it.

You do come across as having a 'pop' sometimes. I bought routers and the stuff to test it with just to review them as there was NONE available. But it's ok to have pop at someone who took the time to review something who has a busy life? I even bought products just to get the info out there is a little ott.

Given more time (which I do have now) there would be more detail, but lets be honest I don't know a single person who reads reviews wants to know all the "space filling detail" in the review, most people skip to 'how fast is it?' section.

I'm not here to argue and will take criticism - time on a review is everything. When people don't have it but still put something out there - it's very commendable.

Also most reviewers (not all) are just in it for the free stuff and for the wrong reasons and before you shoot me down on this, you only have to look at the for sale sections of various forums to see known reviewers selling on the free stuff or their eBay accounts.

Reviwing a product shouldn't be about getting free stuff - should be about getting that valuable info across that people can't find anywhere to make a consideration on their purchase.

You are so wrong about that. The reason people come to OC3D is for the long reviews and the extensive videos.
