Hi Guys,

As some of you may have noticed, the OC3D forums were down for a bit of maintenance this morning. Aside from the usual tidy up we have also made the following changes:

- New 'human' authentication system for new registrations to help reduce spam bots.

- Spam thread filtering. Each and every post will go through a constantly updated spam filter to help keep spam off our forums

- No posting links or images, private messaging or viewing user profiles until you reach 15 posts. Once again to prevent spammers and to protect your privacy.

- For Sale & Wanted section now requires a form to be completed in order to gain access to buy or sell. This is currently being worked on. Please bear with us. All members WILL need to reapply for access.

lol

Just pm'd an admin as to why i couldnt get onto my own for sale thread.

this kinda explains why.

:)

Sounds like a good thing. I shall wait with baited breath for the new form even though i've got nothing to sell or buy at the moment.

Can new users respond to PMs?

At the moment, PM is only enabled after 15 posts to stop someone from registering just to PM Spam the forum. FS&W section access may only be available once you have reached 200 posts anyway, so hopefully this will weed out some of the scum that tries to scam outside of the main FS area.

this sounds like some excellent additions as always :D

it may have been mentioned before, but would it be possible to contribute to the forum and have some of the ad's removed somehow? it can get a little cluttered up there at times lol

Just an update: All those who have requested FS&W section access so far have been validated.

What about those of us with no landline number? Is a mobile number ok?

At the moment full access will be granted to those who authenticate with mobiles. However, I am looking to implement a system that will restrict users on the value of goods they can list depending on how strong the authentication we've got for them is.

For example, if you authenticate from a mobile phone, it offers very little in the way of security, so you may only be able to sell items up to the value of £200.

It's all still got to be finalised, but landline verification will be the best way if you can.

Cool, it's just that we're in the process of changing our home phone provider over and you never know how long they can take.:p

Sorry for the delay guys - all outstanding FS&W requests have been authorised. :worship:
