OC Problems

Hi All,

I have some real problems OCing my rig.

It runs all the 3DMark programs fine, but now it just reboots or fails the bench.

Specs:

Mach 11 GT

Epox 9NDA3+ nForce3

1 x FX55 @ HTT 275 Multi 11 HT Freq x3 vcore 1.7v

Chipset 1.7v

2 x 512 MB Gskill pc4400 slots 3&4 2.5-4-4-8 @ 1T vdimm 2.8v

1 x X800 XT PE CAT 4.12 Fast Write disabled @ Stock

2 x Samsung Spinpoints 160GB using the onboard RAID ( RAID 0)

1 x OCZ Powerstream 520W

It passes OCZ Memtest86 four times error free and prime it is stable.

Could it be that RAID 0 i.e. the onboard cannot handle 275 HTT ?

I checked the AGP/PCI lock was working i.e. 66/33Mhz.

It seems no matter what i do it just crashes in 3DMark, did'nt even bother testing games.

Is it just a crap board and should i get the MSI Neo2 ?

Could it be getings corruption with RAID at those speeds ?

Should i reinstall without a RAID setup and just connect the SATA drives as normal ?

It's just doing my head in at the moment, btw it runs perfect at stock speeds as it should.

Many Thanks,

Do you not have have an IDE drive lying about..?

Yes, i will have to take it out of an old comp.

Also i ran some checks on the hard drives for errors i.e. bad sectors and stuff but it came up. So the only thing i can think of is RAID corruption at the those speeds.

tbh i just want to bin this mobo and get the MSI Neo2 Plat and be done with it.

But i try anything to get it working at those speeds, because i know the cpu and mem can handle it.

The mobo is also a revision 1.0 and the latest ones are revision 2.1 and are supposed to rock.

Then i look at the MSI Neo2 Plat which has been out for some time and has a dedicated following with good modded bioses for the extreme speeds we use.

Also it is the first time i used RAID in an OCed rig and tbh honest i have seen no real benefit.

Many Thanks,

M8tRiX

I got an msi but I dont use raid so I cant tell you of any benifits or if the mobo will raid at those speeds you may need to ask on the msi forums??

Thats what I'm running at the moment and 2 WD raptors in raid 0 Cant seem to get past 3.2 Ghz I think I need better cooling than a Mach II. Check out the thread for this mobo and others at xtreme systems;

By the way which sata ports are you using? 3 & 4 are not locked for your board you should use 1 & 2 closest to the AGP slot.

Hi ZaX,

I am using the ones closed to the agp port, which are locked.

Tbh i just cant work out why it is starting to fail benchies, also i read that slots 1 & 2 are best for OCing not 3 & 4 but that was with 256mb dimms.

Also could it be my AGP aperture size is too large, it is currently set at 256MB.?

Thanks ZaX,

I think that's fine, read somewhere that the AGP aperture size should be set to a quarter of your system ram.
