Whatchya
I've been buying parts for my next build every payday and I'm now a month or two from putting everything together. My last build was 2008 so it's been a while.
I have a 750D case and an Asus X99 Deluxe II motherboard.
The X99DII has two internal USB 3 connectors on the board and I have had an idea and would like to know if it is a stupid hard thing to do, or if it's as easy as I suspect. So if you have experience of similar please let me know.
If I buy one of these (replacement front I/O panel for the case link below), would it be an easy thing to strip the USB 3 slots and replace the existing USB 2 slots on the case front I/O?

Looking at it, it seems like a simple thing, just unscrew the two screws at the top of the I/O block holding the USB slots, pop them out and pop in the USB 3s and BOOM! 4 x USB3 in the front I/O.
But I can't tell if there is something internal in the front I/O, such as wiring or hidden small but vitally important tabs that would cause an issue.
And i don't want to mess around and break it or buy the replacement I/O panel and end up with the same USB config as if I hadn't bothered.
Let me know if you have done similar or have an idea what I should expect
Thanks
Jx
