NZXT Sentry Mix not working with Noctua fans...

I have 2 nff12s that will be pushing air through my 240 mm rad. I have hooked it up to my NZXT Sentry mix and when I first turned it on it made this weird buzz and I turned it back off and pushed to voltage a little higher on the controller and then turned it back on. It was all good until I turned it off to put some more water in the res and now the fans wont come on.

Does anyone else have this same problem?

might need a solid 5v to start them as thats the lowest voltage they run at. try setting it to just above 50% and see how that goes. I have the Sentry Mesh and no issues with it but then again i'm not using noctua fans.

So This is what I have done. I put each fan on its separate channel and moved the slider to 100% and one fan came on and the other just kinda shook like it was not getting enough power. Now I am only jump starting my psu so I can test everything out. I give the fan that is shaking a little spin and it starts up but they are not running near full power. Once I get both fans going and then I turn both channels down the fan that was shaking stops and start shaking again and the other stops as well but does not shake. Once I give it more power one fan will start on its own and the other shaking fan I have to give a little push.... I am kinda thinking that I need to try everything once I get my cpu in there and see what it does before I do anything else.

What do you all think?

I'm thinking that controller isnt putting enough power to them. Try powering them straight from the psu no controller and see how they act. if they still shake and shout then its most likely the fans. Have ya any other fans to try on the controller??

Well I was going to try that but I do not have a 4pin molex to a 3 pin adapter... I had 3 of the nzxt fans running and they were running just fine. I could lower and raise the watts and they would cope just fine with it all. I even have 2 running on a single channel. I was even thinking about pulling them out and plugging them into my current case but I just put the water in and taking it all apart is a pain in the ass as it is in the bottom of the case...

OMFG!!! go back to noob school bro hahahahaha I cant believe you dont have any molex to 3pins laying about lol. if ya was a tad bit closer you coild come get one or 5 from me lol I keep them all. There are other ways of doing it but they involve cutting a cable and trying not to short it out when touching them together.

Well I used to have a ton but with friends need some and blah blah blah I ran out.... I really dont want to spend the time with rigging something up either. I will be going to the store tomorrow to pick some stuff up so I will get some then. ugh I just wanted the damn thing to work and not have to do any of this shit...

might just be the noctuas need more amps than the controller puts out bro. but I know ur pain when shit goes wrong

Got some noctuas on the way also. hope the define r3 can give them enough amps...... How about connecting them to your motherboard headers ?

Well I cant connect them to my motherboard headers yet. I have no processor yet so I am jump starting the psu.

This morning I found some 4 pin to 3 pin and I plugged them up and the fans came up just fine.... I went and checked the volts coming out of the fan header controller and at 100% i get 11.6 volts and on 40% i get 4.3 volts. I then checked the 4 pin voltage output and I get exactly 12. which I do not mind running them at full speed all the time. They are super quiet just sucks that they wont work with the fan controller.... this is really pissing me off. I mean your just talking about power here and .4 volts should not be causing this shit.

I have noted as well my Sentry mesh doesnt give the full 12v even at 100% on the slider. 11.6v should be more than enough to get them puppies spinning. it has to be down to watts or amps as the controller can handle 50watts per channel its gotta be its not passing the amps to them. Which totally sucks balz bro. It must be defective. Get on NZXT's site and see if you can get help bro. they have a very good customer service support. If you dont here back from them by mid next week pop a pm To Retell or XNine here they are our forum reps.
