CAM 3.1 Review

I'm back again, 13 months later and we have as far as I can see a vast improvement of NZXT's CAM Monitoring software with the long awaited ability to do some overclocking!. So no messing around straight into the app.

The Dashboard.
This area is thankfully untouched since 2.0 and well if it ain't broke don't fix it. We still have our basic readings from our CPU, GPUs, Motherboard, RAM, Storage devices & top running applications, all the data any novice user could ever need to view. Digging a little deeper into our dashboard we head into the advanced tab to reveal again the same thing we saw in CAM 2.0 which is a more detailed layout of information delivered to us in the form of real time graphs but still no ability to export this data, the one thing I did however spot while feeling my way around this familiar interface was the improved and at long last S.M.A.R.T data.

Now as we edge our way across to the expanded section, those familiar with Open Hardware Monitor will appreciate this pop out window as it graces us with all those voltages and tiny details us enthusiasts go moist over.

So as it goes so far not a lot has changed other than the storage data improvements.. moving swiftly on.

Build.
The Build Tab is where you will find all of your important system hardware labelled and and laid out neatly with all the important base details for your perusal.

Games.
I really enjoyed and used this feature loads in the last build to keep a track of A: My gaming session times and B: The overall FPS while playing. Huge kudos to NZXT for this it's an extremely handy monitor.

Tuning.
Now for the tasty creamy center of our delicious pudding, it's a GPU tuning and overclocking element! NZXT really have made this as fool proof as they possibly could have, it's so simple even a blind guide dog could use it.

3 sliders to deal with and job done:
Power limit, Core Clock Offset & Memory Clock Offset. Apply your overclock save the changes and reboot, concerned about your temps, no worries CAM has us covered here too we can also create custom fan profiles. Just be doubly safe should anyone be in any doubt about which slider or setting does what, NZXT has very intuitively included little question marks for you to hover over outlining in detail what they're for.

So to end this little review and first look at the new updated NZXT CAM 3.1, it has come a very long way since I first laid my hands on it in Beta 3 years ago. The only improvement I'd like to see made for a future update would be a data graph export feature, then and only then could I call it perfect.

All I have to say is well done to the Developers & Betas still working on this and to Fan Ding who has done an amazing job making CAM a reality.

Does it support control of multiple Kraken's yet? As that's my biggest problem with the software. I use an X61 for the CPU and one for the GPU, but i can only ever control the settings on 1, and it swaps dependent on restart of the machine -.-

EDIT: No, it doesn't. Why can't they implement it, my computer sees them as 2 separate USB devices with different ID's, its not exactly like it would be difficult >.>

Sadly I don't have a full NZXT system so I can't speak for all the features.
