NVIDIA's TressFX

So with AMD getting some well earned recognition and praise for it's realistic TressFX simulation, NVIDIA has come up with its own in fur and hair, seen here in Call of Duty: Ghosts. Shame those console fanboys won't be seeing this, or at least not for a while!

Looks like the new Physx thing they are using in The Witcher 3 as well.
It does make those wolfs look pretty realistic :)

Apologies I should of added, it did state that it was the same technology used in The Witcher 3 with the wolves as well. Cheers for pointing it out SieB.

I wasn't sure if it was the same thing or if the one you posted was something different to what they are using in The Witcher 3 so I thought i'd post :)

Yeah me being a n00b typing it up whilst watching it lol. It's the same PhysX in both games, each fur asset has about 400-500K hair strands.

Looks pretty awesome overall, deffiently adds some realism to the wolves, especially the scene in Ghosts as shown were you button bash and then Riley jumps on it and finally another Ghosts. Thought that was a good scene, probably their best overall in the game lol.

i was in tears of laughter when i saw that scene the first time. a dog smashing like 4 people through a solid wooden door. amazing.
i wonder what the framerate is like.

I don't want to ruin the fun but.. I'm really not going to watch at the dog's fur when I'm in a shootout..

So is this furFX or whatever ran using PhysX or can AMD cards use it as well?

This is Nvidia's Physx but AMD have a similar fur thing in the works with TressFX 2.0. Don't know how the TressFX fur looks compared to Nvida's yet though because there is no footage of TressFX 2.0 apart from a demo vid on the new hair effects.

It looked better in some places than others but overall it looked pretty good compared to with it off.

Its so you have something to look at because you've been shot as you were distracted by the amazing graphics...
